People of the Willows will be held Friday
“People of the Willows,” an exploration into the cultural heritage, stories, lives, and songs of the Mandan-Hidatsa Native American Tribes, will be held Friday, March 16, at 7 p.m. in the Lewis-Clark State College Silverthorne Theatre.
The evening, which is part of the Silverthorne Performing Art Series, will feature Keith Bear, Gary Stroutsos, and Jovina Santos Neta, discussing the tribes that historically lived along the banks of the Missouri River. The program depicts the gentle way of life the Mandan and Hidatsa tribes shared and how they lived in balance with nature, as well as with the cultural influences of the Lakota and other neighbors.
Many aspects of daily life, including friendship, planting, courtship, heartbreak, parting, and return will be shared through song and music.
Tickets for the event are $10 for adults, $8 for Seniors and children, and free for LCSC students with a valid student ID card. Tickets can be purchased at the door or ahead of time at the LCSC Continuing Education and Community Events office, located at 415 Main St. in Lewiston.
