LCSC campus will now re-open at 10 a.m.
Administrators at both Lewis-Clark State College and Lewiston High School will re-open their campuses at 10 a.m. today, Friday, April 20, after Lewiston police reported that they have a person in custody that allegedly made a security threat.
Administrators at both schools shut down their campuses for approximately two hours on Friday after learning of the threat, but both campuses will resume normal hours with classes at 10 a.m. All offices and buildings are open, and employees will be reporting to work.
LCSC officials learned of a possible threat that was reported to LCSC campus security Thursday night. Both LCSC security officers and Lewiston Police investigated the threat through the night. The threat made mention of the Columbine school shooting in Colorado, which took place on
LCSC President Dene K. Thomas spoke with Lewiston police at 4:45 a.m. Friday morning and learned officials had been unable to locate the individual who made the alleged threat. Lewiston police located the individual at approximately 7 a.m. and briefed LCSC administrators of the situation. After the discussion, school administrators decided to open both campuses.
