Upgrades will require Datatel Outage May 23-28

The year of technology upgrades continues. IT has been working with faculty and staff to plan for an upgrade to the new release of Datatel Colleague. After 20 months of work to put the pieces and parts together that will allow this to happen, the best window of opportunity for the culminating step is between the end of exams and the start of summer school. We’re planning for five days of downtime to complete this system migration, starting Wednesday, May 23. Here’s what it means:

• Starting Wednesday morning, all functional areas related to Datatel will be offline, including admission, registration, grading, and all financials.
• Each affected department will have contingency plans to mitigate the system downtime – especially for the work days Wednesday through Friday.
• On Tuesday, May 29th (first day of summer school), the system will be brought up in phases to allow departments to verify its functionality. If things go well, all capabilities will be available by 10:00 a.m.

Many end-of-semester tasks must be completed on Monday (May 21) and Tuesday for this schedule to work, starting with faculty submission of grades by the noon deadline on Monday. The controller’s office, registrar, and financial aid will be waiting for the last grades in order to start their tasks. Everything is timed to the hour.
