Eclipse of the Moon viewing is Aug. 28
The Department of Natural Science at LCSC, in conjunction with the Lewiston Astronomy Society, invites the general public to a viewing of the Total Eclipse of the Moon, which will take place on the early morning of August 28.
The Moon will pass through the center of the shadow of the Earth causing a very dark totality which should result in an exceptionally beautiful eclipse. We will start our eclipse viewing at 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 28 at the scenic views at the top of the Spiral Highway on the Lewiston Hill. The start of the partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 1:51 a.m. At 2:52 a.m., the moon will be totally eclipsed with totality lasting until 4:22 a.m.
Bring something warm to wear and a nice lawn chair to sit on. If you can’t make it to the viewing it will still be worth looking out your window at 3:30 a.m. to see the event.
