Six LCSC tennis players earn academic and performance honors

Five Lewis-Clark State College tennis players were recently honored for their scholastic achievements during the 2006-07 academic year, while another player achieved NAIA All-American status.

Boria Molas, who graduated in May, became the ninth LCSC men’s tennis player to earn NAIA All-American honors. He was ranked No. 9 in the country and compiled a career record of 56-23 at LCSC, which puts him eighth on the program’s all-time win list. Molas is from Barcelona, Spain.

Andy Hunt, Ali Faris, Kevin Lee, and Kaylan Crane all earned 2007 ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. All met the requirements of the award for being a varsity letterwinner, having a grade point average of 3.50 or higher during the academic year, and being enrolled at LCSC for at least two semesters. The ITA is the governing body for U.S. intercollegiate tennis.

Hunt graduated last May while the other three will be back this season.

Faris and Shefat Baishakhi earned NAIA Academic All-American honors as well for having GPAs of 3.50 or higher. It marked the third straight year that Faris has earned the honor.
