Clay Robinson earns IHPERD honor
Clay Robinson, an Associate Professor in the Education Division at Lewis-Clark State College, has been named the College/University Educator of the Year by the Idaho Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
Robinson will be honored at the IHPERD State Convention, which will be held Oct. 4-5 in Boise.
Robinson, who is also the Faculty Athletic Representative at LCSC, was nominated for the award by the LCSC Kinesiology Department to the IHPERD Board, which made the selection.
IHPERD’s mission is to promote and support leadership, research, education, and best practices in the professions that support creative, healthy, and active lifestyles.
Robinson has taught Kinesiology and Health classes in the Education Division at LCSC since 1994.He earned his degree in Physical Education with a Health Minor from Weber State in 1982, and then received his Masters in Athletic Administration at Idaho State University in 1984. He earned his Ph.D. in Exercise Science and Wellness at the University of Idaho in 2002.
During the last year, Robinson spoke on Adolescent obesity in males and the correlation to aerobic performance and other lifestyle risk factors at the World Sports and Health Conference in Greece. He also spoke at the IHPERD state conference on youth obesity, and the American College of Sports Medicine Regional Conference.
Robinson is the NAIA Region I Faculty Athletic Representative and served on the NAIA Region I Eligibility Committee.
Robinson has been active in youth and church groups, and also competed in the pro rodeo circuit in steer wrestling.
