LCSC enhances 911 phone system
Enhancements to LCSC’s phone system will mean greater safety for college employees. Emergency first responders will now be able to identify the exact room where a 9-911 call originates.
Because of the limitations of our prior phone system, 9-911 dispatchers knew only that the call for help came from campus. Emergency personnel received the main campus address, and then had to find the appropriate building. With our new phone system we will be able to display the source of the call – both the building and the room number.
Creating this additional layer of safety will require extra diligence on campus. We need to have an accurate database with the location of each telephone. The IT department has made a list of phones and their corresponding locations. To assure accuracy, we would like everyone to verify their location.
