Region II ISBDC offers variety of January training workshops

The Region II Idaho Small Business Development Center at Lewis-Clark State College is offering five training workshops during January, including a workshop on how to deal with younger Generation Y workers.
“How to Start a Business Boot Camp” will be held on Jan. 7, starting at 6 p.m. in Room 12 of the LCSC Administration Building. Participants will learn business feasibility, self-employment assessment, initial market research, start-up expenses, financial feasibility, choosing a business structure, obtaining financing, determining regulations, setting prices, creating marketing materials, and developing a business plan. Jill Thomas-Jorgenson, Director of the Region II ISBDC at LCSC, will be the instructor and the registration fee is $25.
A 12-session course, call “NxLevel for Entrepreneurs” will begin on Jan. 17, also is Room 12 of the LCSC Administration Building. It will start at 6 p.m. and will be held on 12 consecutive Thursdays. The class will cover topics such as entrepreneurship, business planning and research, management and legal structure, market analysis, marketing strategies and implementation, financial planning, budgets, financial assumptions, deal making process, and managing growth. The registration fee for the class is $300 and it will be taught by Thomas-Jorgenson.
A new offering “What Are We Going to Do With These Kids” will be on Jan. 22 at 7-9 p.m. in Room 16 of the LCSC Administration Building to help employers deal with Generation Y employees. This course, which has a fee of $25, introduces participants to two helpful books on dealing with Generation Y: Eric Chester’s “Employing Generation Why” and “Getting Them To Give A Damn.” Both books are included with the class, which will be a quick immersion into the world of the Gen Y’s. A follow-up seminar is offered Tuesday, February 19, “Generation Why.”
Two QuickBooks courses will wrap up the offerings during the month. A “QuickBooks – Getting Started” workshop is Jan. 28 and has a fee of $25. This workshop will discuss the basics of getting started with QuickBooks and teach participants how to navigate in QuickBooks, how to set up a company, and how to work with lists, bank accounts, credit card transactions, and balance sheet accounts. The workshop has a fee of $25 and the instructor is Judy Schumacher.
Finally, the workshop “QuickBooks – Accounts Payable, Receivable and Other Record Keeping” will be held on Jan. 30. The workshop will help participants learn the basic setup of accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales, make deposits, receive payments, enter and pay bills, set up inventory, and review reports. The fee for the workshop is $25 and it will be taught by Schumacher.
Both QuickBooks workshops begin at 6 p.m., have $25 registration fees and will be held in Room 12 of the LCSC Administration Building.
