The third annual High School Art Invitational opens Friday at the Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History, located at 415 Main St. in Lewiston, and will run through April 18.

The invitational features art from students attending Lewiston, Clarkston and Genesee high schools, as well as Jenifer and Sacajawea junior high schools in Lewiston. Students from the North Idaho Children’s Home also are participating.

An opening reception will be held Friday, March 21, at 5-8 p.m. at the Center. The reception is free and open to the public. The entertainment for the opening will be provided by area high school students and is being coordinated through the Lewiston City Council’s Youth Commission. The exhibition is supported by the City of Lewiston’s Youth Advisory Board.

The exhibition will feature a junior high school exhibit in the Upstairs Gallery at the Center.

The student work has been juried by their teachers and then selected and curated for display by Ellen Vieth, Program Coordinator for the Center.

Both the Main Gallery and Gallery II will showcase a variety of mediums, and thought-provoking work by the students. The work includes drawings, paintings, photography, mixed media, and sculptures.

The Center is open Tuesdays-Saturdays at 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
