LCSC to send 17 DEC students to national competition
The Lewis-Clark State College Delta Epsilon Chi organization qualified 17 students to compete at the International Development Conference on Friday through April 16 in Atlanta.
The students qualified by placing third or higher at the DEC Idaho State Career Development Conference in Lewiston in February. The LCSC students competed against students from Boise State, Idaho State, Eastern Idaho Technical College, and the College of Southern Idaho. Students at the conference participated in workshops and seminars to develop management awareness and skills. The students also competed in management events in three categories: business simulations, case studies, and prepared presentations.
The national competition coincides with the DEC International Career Development Conference, which offers students the chance to engage in challenging learning activities, expand their peer and business networks, and receive recognition for their competitive achievements.
DEC, which is the college division of DECA Inc., involves more than 14,000 students from 230 college campuses. It is an organization for college students to prepare them for a variety of career by engaging them in several educational disciplines, while maintaining a strong focus on business-related areas such as marketing, management and entrepreneurship. Activities promoted by DEC integrate with and enhance the student's college curriculum.
DEC enhances the student's college experience by providing recognition and leadership activities directly related to academic study.
Conferences are an important part of the Delta Epsilon Chi year. They provide members with the opportunity to network with their peers as well as business leaders. They also give students a chance to put their career skills to the test through our competitive events program.
