Region II ISBDC sets May training workshops
The Region II Idaho Small Business Development Center at Lewis-Clark State College is offering three training workshops during May, including a workshop on how to prepare to pass along your business to the next generation.
“How to Start a Business Boot Camp” will be held on May 5, starting at 6 p.m. in Room 12 of the LCSC Administration Building. Participants will learn business feasibility, self-employment assessment, initial market research, start-up expenses, financial feasibility, choosing a business structure, obtaining financing, determining regulations, setting prices, creating marketing materials, and developing a business plan. Jill Thomas-Jorgenson, Director of the Region II ISBDC at LCSC, will be the instructor and the registration fee is $25.
The next workshop is titled “Succession Planning (Passing The Torch)” on May 14 at 6-9 p.m. in Room 16 of the LCSC Administration Building. Business owners need to think about the new generation of owners, who will want to take their business into the future. Plan for the future needs to be done 5-10 years in advance of transferring the company to maximize its value. This workshop will focus on legal, tax, business valuation, and financial considerations. The fee for the workshop is $25 and the instructors are Chris Moore and Ken Schumacher.
A new offering “Small Business Employee Compensation” will be on May 20 at 6-9 p.m. in Room 16 of the LCSC Administration Building. The workshop will discuss 401K plans, benefits and compensation to help the small business owners. The workshop also will help owners retain employees in the competitive world of benefits. The fee for the course is $25.
