Region II ISBDC workshop and webinars
The Region II Idaho Small Business Development Center will offer a three-hour workshop on how to start a business and also will take part in two state-wide webinars for its November offerings.
“How to Start a Business Boot Camp” will be held Nov. 3 at 6-9 p.m. in Room 12 of the Lewis-Clark State College Administration Building. The workshop will teach business feasibility, self-employment assessment, initial market research, start-up expenses, financial feasibility, choosing a business structure, obtaining finances, determining regulations, setting prices, creating marketing materials, and developing a business plan. The fee for the workshop is $10 and Randy Eriksen will be the instructor.
Also, two state webinars will be held at 15 Department of Labor offices or in the privacy of a home or office.
The first webinar is “Control Waste in Your Business” on Nov. 6 at 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to eliminate waste and apply lean concepts that enable operational and customer service excellence. The webinar will show how to learn where waste occurs, even in the places that participants may not know about. It also will discuss strategies for minimizing waste with plans, policies, training and strategies.
The second webinar is “Surviving in a Down Economy” on Nov. 13 at 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to prepare their businesses to operate in a challenging economy by understanding and making crucial decision to survive. The webinar will look at the cause and effect, examining the relationship of price, volume and service. It also will discuss different ways to reduce expenses and manage cash flow.
To attend the webinar at a Department of Labor office, participants just show up at the date and time indicated. To view the webinars from a home or office, instructions will be e-mailed to individuals.
The 15 Department of Labor offices participating in the webinar are located in Moscow, Grangeville, Orofino, St. Maries, Kellogg, Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry, McCall, Payette, Emmett, Hailey, Burley, Soda Springs, Blackfoot, Rexburg and Salmon.
