DL to hold Blackboard Symposium on Wednesday

A teaching and learning symposium with Blackboard will be held for the LCSC campus on Wednesday, Sept. 8.

The symposium, which is free, has the objective of relating, discussing, and sharing the latest on Blackboard Technology to better serve the LCSC campus.

The symposium agenda is as follows

8:00 - 9:00 a.m. Meet with Distance Learning staff (SGC 214)
Learn more about 9.1 management, tips & tricks, and best practices around deployment and implementation. Shine light on additional Bb resources available to assist in the migration/upgrade project customized for LCSC DL capabilities and mission.

9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Roundtable session with LCSC Faculty Piloteers (1 of 2) (SGC 214)
Open up a dialogue on expectations and goals around learning as it pertains to maximizing use of LCSC's LMS investment. All attendees will get a chance to meet with LCSC's new Blackboard account team which includes Solutions Engineer Brian DeKemper, Mobile Specialist Alex Maruska, and Strategic Account Executive Ben Choi. Brian will highlight key functionality in 9.1. Alex will focus on Blackboard’s new Mobile platform to enable anywhere, anytime learning for LCSC's students, faculty, and alumni.

11:45 -1 :00 p.m. Lunch meeting with LCSC's key IT partners - Sage Baking Co. (1303 Main St.)
Off-site lunch to informally engage Blackboard team; network with other key learning stakeholders on the LCSC campus while sharing a meal. Please bring your questions and suggestions to help drive meaningful conversation. Discussion to continue in SGC 214 (concurrent with leadership meeting) LCSC DL/IT staff

1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Inaugural meeting with LCSC's executive leadership (ADM 200)
Ben Choi (LCSC's Strategic Account Executive at Blackboard) will update LCSC leadership on Blackboard's organizational changes at the executive and customer relationship level. Ben will also share latest information on current activities in the state of Idaho around teaching and learning. The majority of the time will be centered around formulating the beginnings of forging a stronger relationship between LCSC and Blackboard.

3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Teaching and Learning roadmap for the 21st century: Anywhere, Anytime (SAC 208)
Gain valuable insight into how the latest innovations in learning systems serve up the requirements of the 21st century learner where faculty and student engagement often occurs beyond the walls of the classroom and lecture halls.

All are invited to the closing,Informal reception and visitation time following the final session.
