LCSC receives national service award
Lewis-Clark State College recently was recognized with a national award, the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.
The Honor Roll, established in 2006, annually recognizes higher learning institutions for their commitment to and achievement in community service. Colleges that make the honor roll help increase the public awareness of the contributions that colleges and their student make to local communities and the nation.
It's the first time LCSC has made the Honor Roll. Honorees are chosen based on a series of selection factors including scope and innovation of service projects, percentage of student participation in service activities, incentives for service, and the extent to which the school offers academic service-learning courses.
President Obama has pledged to make service a central cause in his administration and this award shows the important role administration, students, faculty, and staff of higher education institutions fill in helping to solve pressing social problems in communities.
