LCSC reports Fall Semester enrollment numbers

4525 students are enrolled at Lewis-Clark State College for the 2012 Fall Semester, according to census data generated on October 15. While enrollment statistics have traditionally been tallied as part of a "10th Day" report, the Idaho State Board of Education voted to make October 15 the official census date for Idaho's public post-secondary institutions.

The October 15 count includes over 1900 freshmen attending LCSC and 458 students enrolled at LCSC - Coeur d'Alene.

LCSC Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Andrew Hanson said the numbers seem to indicate a leveling off of enrollment at the college. "We have no benchmark compared to last year, and every year there is a dip in enrollment a month into the semester, due to withdrawals for various reasons," said Hanson.

LCSC President J. Anthony Fernandez said that positive trends continue at the college, including a record number of graduates last spring, who earned a record number of degrees and certificates.

"We are also seeing higher retention rates and higher graduation rates, which are very good signs," said Fernandez.

LCSC also reported that its Workforce Training program offered instruction to over 3627 students in Fiscal Year 2012, with over 300 students taking the Idaho State Approved Certified Nurse's Assistant training.
