LCSC-Coeur d'Alene students stage successful diaper drive

Lewis-Clark State College Coeur d'Alene Social Work students donated 8,000 diapers to local food banks as a result of their 3rd Annual Diaper Drive.

"This year's theme was 'No Child Wet Behind' and thanks to the Sandpoint, Rathdrum, Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls' communities we gathered over 8,000 diapers to be dispersed to food banks in these areas," said Chris Ahlman, LCSC CDA's Social Work Coordinator. "Diapers are expensive and food banks rarely have enough to meet the need. We thank our donors, especially Stein's Market in Rathdrum, for making this project an overwhelming success."

Nine social work students collected a record number of diapers this year, outpacing last year's effort by 5,500 diapers. Students went door-to-door and asked businesses and individuals to help assist people in need. More than 30 businesses across North Idaho donated money to the campaign. Students also stood in front of Trading Company in Post Falls and K-Mart in Coeur d'Alene

Stein's Market bought the diapers wholesale, which helped stretch the nearly $1,000 to reach the 8,000 diaper mark.
