LEWISTON, Idaho – Cumberland University senior first baseman Donnie Burkhalter was a triple crown winner Thursday at the 48th annual Avista NAIA World Series at Lewis-Clark State College’s Harris Field.

Shortly after helping the Bulldogs win their first NAIA national championship baseball trophy with a 10-3 win over Oklahoma City, Burkhalter was named the winner of three individual Series awards.

Burkhalter, who hit .350 in five Series games, was a unanimous selected to the all-tournament team at first base and also earned the MVP award for finishing with a team-high eight RBI on a Cumberland team that scored 58 runs in the tournament, 15 more than other team.
