The Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics offers courses in biology, chemistry, computer science, geology, mathematics, physics and natural sciences that are applicable to the preparation of elementary and secondary school teachers and to many other careers. The philosophy and processes of science and mathematics and the contribution of science and mathematics to contemporary cultural and environmental considerations are basic to the programs offered.
The basic science and mathematics courses are applicable to many career programs and are fully transferable to other accredited institutions. Faculty members should be consulted regarding courses that directly apply to preparation in biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics, physics, forestry, engineering, agriculture, mining and other pure and applied branches of science and mathematics.

Preparation for medicine, dentistry and veterinary science:
Students interested in seeking entrance into these professions normally need to complete a baccalaureate degree prior to admittance to a medical, dental, or veterinary school. In most cases, the student should complete a major in biology or chemistry and a minor in some area of humanities.
LCSC actively encourages students interested in these professions. Advisors in each of the fields will work closely with the student in planning course work and in preparing for the entrance exams and interviews that are prerequisites for acceptance into a professional school.
