LC's Natural Science Comprehensive
Teaching Major

In order to receive a baccalaureate degree in Natural Science, you must complete:

  • 50 required credits in natural science and mathematics
  • 9-12 elective credits in natural science
  • 12 credits in the Biology Option
  • 9-10 credits in the Chemistry Option
  • 12 credits in the Earth Science Option
  • the General Education Core
  • the secondary teaching requirements
  • an exit interview with the division chair
  • a standardized exit exam
  • a senior research project and oral defense

    * The General Physics sequence PHYS 211 Engineering Physics I and PHYS 212 Engineering Physics II may be substituted for the General Physics sequence.

    ** MATH 160 Brief Calculus or MATH 170 Calculus I may be substituted for Trigonometry.

    *** The computer science course may be chosen from CS 206 BASIC, CS 210 FORTRAN, or CS 241 Foundations of Program Development I ( currently taught in C/C++).
