Moving Out Guide - May be used for end of
the academic year or anytime during the academic year if you are
moving out. Students do NOT check out at the end of fall
semester if you are continuing to spring semester. You may
leave all of your items in your room, but please clean and empty any
refrigerators. Thank you.
When you are leaving the residence halls, it is important to follow
the proper steps to avoid any unnecessary charges.
- Please setup an
appointment with your RA at least 24 hours in advance.
-
Have your bedroom completely empty and remove any items from the
suite (if living in College Place or Clearwater Hall) that
belongs to you before the RA arrives. The
RA will bring your RCF (room condition form) to check you out of
the room. Your check-in will be compared to the check-out
to access any damages or cleanliness issues. You will also
return any keys at this time. Make sure you give the RA
your forwarding address. This is very important as we need
to know where to forward mail that you receive.
- Coordinate your
move out with your roommate/suitemates so everyone is aware of
when you are moving. if the RA finds a mess left in the
room, all residents will be charged accordingly and no one wants
that. It is important that you share in the cleaning and
emptying of garbage so that everyone receives a refund of their
deposit when leaving.
-
You will ONLY receive your deposit back if you are moving out of
the halls. If you plan to return the following semester or
year, we will retain the deposit on your account. If there
is a cleaning fee or damages to your room/suite, the charges
will be taken from the housing deposit and if necessary each
student will receive a bill if the charges exceed the deposit
amount. A HOLD will then be placed on the student account.
The amount will need to be paid before students are able to
register for classes the next semester or are allowed to order
transcripts from LCSC.
If you plan to return and you had charges subtracted from the
deposit, you will need to pay that amount before you are allowed
to check into your room the next semester.
We
hope that you have enjoyed living in the residence halls and
hope you will join us again next semester!
