QUESTIONS
Question:
What is the limit of professional liability insurance
for faculty, in particular nurses and counselors?
Does the liability insurance provided at the college extend to private practice
off campus?
Answer:
The School’s limits of liability coverage for all employees, including
nurses and counselors, is $500,000 per occurrence, which
amount is School’s limit of liability under the Idaho Tort
Claims Act specified in Idaho Code 6-901 through 6-929. This
coverage does not extend to private practice off campus in
nursing or counseling.
The students in nursing and other fields are insuranced under a separate policy with
Students covered for clinical work under a student errors and omissions
policy with coverage of $1,000,000 per occurrence and
$3,000,000 aggregate while at the agency.
Question: How do I obtain a
Certificate of Insurance for my off campus event?
Answer: Call Risk
Management at 208-292-2240 at least one week before your
event with the following information:
The name of the third party who has requested the
certificate of insurance, their address, the name of the
event, the date(s) of the event, the address where the event
will take place, and the number of participants.
Expect to receive your certificate within three days
after your request.
Question: When someone is
injured on campus (student, staff, faculty or visitor), when do I need
to get Risk Management involved and what do I do?
Answer:
Always call the Office
of Risk Management at the Office of the Vice President for
Finance and Administration at 208-792-2240 for any injury on
campus, big or small within 24 hours.
The Accident/Injury Form will need to be completed
and delivered to Risk Management within 24 hours if possible.
If the injured party has questions please direct them
to the office of Risk Management in the Administration
Building, Room 106 or they can call 208-792-2240.
