Q: What kinds of students attend LCSC and IIE?
A: The average age of our students is 22 years. We have students on our
campus from 30 different countries. Some are studying English in preparation to enter LCSC or to learn more
about the American culture and language. Others are enrolled in academic or technical programs.

Students whose English skills are not high enough to enter the college directly can be admitted
to the college if they apply to both LCSC and IIE. When they have met one of the language requirements
listed below, they may register for college classes the following semester.
Part-time Students
IIE students with TOEFL scores of 480-497 paper-based test or 157-170 computer based test, or 54-55
internet-based test, may enroll for up to 4 credits at LCSC. They may choose from classes in art
performance, music performance, physical education, student development, international club, foreign
language, developmental math or developmental English.
Part-time students can accumulate up to 20 semester credits before they become full-time students.
Language Requirements
Language requirements are waived if the applicant’s native country is Australia, Canada, Ireland,
New Zealand, United Kingdom, English speaking Caribbean Islands and if English is the applicant’s
native language.
All other applicants can meet LCSC’s language requirement in one of the following ways:
- Submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Score of at least 500 paper based
test or 173 computer based test, or 61 internet-based test. (Detailed information about the TOEFL can be
found at www.toefl.com Ask the Educational Testing Service to mail the TOEFL score directly to LCSC at
institutional code 4385).
- Complete 14 or more transferable credits at a college or university within the United
States with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
- Attend at least one semester at LCSC’s Institute of Intensive English and graduate with
a grade point average of at least 3.3.
- Complete high school in the U.S. and meet the college admission standards for high school
graduates.
- Earn a degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S.
