English as a
Second Language
Lewis-Clark State College has its own intensive English program. The
Institute of Intensive English (IIE) is in the International
Programs building on the LCSC campus.
We offer classes at six levels, from beginning to advanced.
Students take a series of tests when they arrive to determine their
level. IIE students attend class from 18 to 25 hours per week.
Classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:20 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The IIE features small classes and excellent, fully qualified
instructors. All full-time students take these core classes: Grammar,
Reading/Writing, Listening/Speaking, and Vocabulary.
Students may also choose some elective classes such as TOEFL
Preparation, TOEIC Preparation, Conversation, Pronunciation, American
Slang, American Movies, Business English and Idioms. Each term, the
elective classes change. Students can suggest elective classes they
would like to see offered next term.
