Orientation and Advising
Arrival
You can fly directly to Lewiston (airport code LWS) on
Horizon Air or
Delta Airlines. If you notify us at least 24
hours before you arrive, we will arrange for someone to greet you at the
airport.
For more information visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.
Orientation
College students should arrive one week before the beginning of classes. During this week
you will attend international student orientation. Orientation activities include tours, advising, registration,
immigration paperwork, banking, shopping, and social activities. This is a time for you to learn about LCSC and
its student services and to meet your classmates.
IIE students should arrive two or three days before the beginning of classes. On the first day of the term you will
take placement tests to determine your level. You will also tour the campus, register, pay fees (if you have not already
done so) and learn about LCSC and IIE.
Advising
College students will be assigned a faculty advisor from the student’s major field of study. Your advisor will help
you choose classes and develop your academic plan. College students on F-1 visas must carry at least 12 credits each
semester. As a general rule, you should plan to do two hours of homework for every hour in class.
IIE students will meet with an advisor at least once during each 8-week term. However, the International Programs staff
would be happy to answer your questions at any time. IIE students on F-1 visas must register for at least 18 hours of
class per week.
