Hey everyone! My
name is Hailey Wilson and I grew up in the small town of Lapwai,
Idaho, which is only 13 miles south of Lewiston. I have two awesome
parents, Mark and Vivian, married almost twenty years, an older
brother who is like a genius and a younger sister who is a senior in
high school and always knows how to make me smile. I also have a
HUGE extended family and we are all very close, so I’m never
lonely.
In high school I was involved in everything that was offered but
college is a lot different. Right now I am the vice president of
the Native American Club at LCSC, but that’s about it for now. I’d
like to get into other activities but school is so much more
demanding than it used to be. I am planning on getting a bachelor’s
degree in nursing and possible going on to be a practitioner or a
physician. I have big dreams but that’s down the road a ways.
Even though my
hometown is like “2 seconds” away, I chose to rent my own apartment
here in town. I love it! My best friend and I share the rent and a
2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment that is perfect for the both of us.
I feel like a big girl now!
Why I chose Lewis-Clark State:
Because I grew up so close to
Lewiston, I always heard that Lewis-Clark State was just a second
chance college, but I never believed it. As my college
decision-making time grew closer, LCSC kept looking and sounding
better and better. I am now confident in my decision and am glad I
chose to become a Warrior.
One of the main reasons I chose L-C was because of the awesome
nursing program. I’ve heard lots of good things about it and now
that I am getting ready to enter into the program I know it will be
a lot of hard work.
Another factor that played into my decision was the cost and since
L-C is in Idaho, the state I live in, it’s pretty cheap. I actually
make money going to school here because of the scholarships and
financial aid I’ve received. I always hear people, that have been
out of school for a while, complain about their college loans that
they’re STILL paying off. I did not want to be one of those people.
I also chose L-C because I went to a small school all my life and I
didn’t want to throw myself into an extremely new environment. My
family lives close by so if I need them I don’t have to go far and
my best friend and I planned on getting an apartment together for a
long time. Things are working out better than I had planned.
