Hi, my name is Sol Kryder and I'm
from Tonopah, Nevada. I am 18 years old, and I only have one
sibling, a brother, who is 9 years older. I was born in Reno; the
Biggest Little City in the World, but moved to Tonopah when I
started kindergarten. I went to high school at Tonopah High, the
home of the Muckers. There I ran track for my first two years, but
now I run just for myself. For the next two years I worked in retail
until I graduated, a co-valedictorian. In my search for colleges, I
found LCSC, a school about the right size and that had an automotive
program with a good reputation. I like to run, skateboard, play
guitar and pool or just chill out.
Tonopah wasn't a big town by any standards, only about 3,000 people
max. There wasn't much to do except skateboard or BMX, and go four
wheeling or shooting in the desert. Despite the lack of things to
do, it was a good place to grow up. There was no worries about gang
violence or really any crime at all, so that meant more freedom for
my friends and I. Skateboarding, playing pool at a friends' house,
going shooting or the occasional trip out of town were among the
normal routine of things to do. After working through the summer
following my graduations, I moved to Lewiston.
My selected major is auto-mechanics. I have always enjoyed working on
vehicles, but didn't have a whole lot of experience, so I decided to
come to school to get that experience and know how. I am still
undecided on whether to go for the 2 years and go out in the field
or to go for 4 years and get a bachelors.
