Top 10 Questions to Ask Students

1.  Are you going to class?

     Skipping class is the #1 reason why students fail.

 

2.  Are you studying at least 25 hours a week?

     College is a full time job.  Students should be in class, studying, doing homework 40 hours a week.

 

3.  Are you reviewing the material in each class weekly?

     Review all material each week, then preparing for an exam is easy.

 

4.  Are you scheduling your "goof-off" time?

     Everyone needs down time but students need to learn to manage their "goof-off" time.

 

5.  Do you know when the last day to Withdraw is?

     After this date you cannot withdraw from a class.

 

6.  Are you starting your assignments early?

     The unexpected happens . . . illness, computer dies.  Start assignments with plenty of time for the UNEXPECTED.

 

7.  Do you know your advisor's or professor's office hours?

     Advisors and professors like to help students.  Office hours are posted on their door.

 

8.  Do you know where the tutoring labs are?

9.  Have you formed a study group?

     Studying complex material is more efficient with a study group.

 

10. Are you involved in any clubs, organizations or campus activities?

     Students who are involved in clubs, organizations or campus activities graduate in a more timely manner and have a better college experience.
