following may answer some of your questions regarding what is . . .
an advanced standing summary?
An advanced standing summary is an evaluation of transfer
courses and credits from other colleges
the core?
The general education core are specific courses
that develop a broad base of skills and knowledge in communications,
mathematics, arts, literature, natural science and social science.
All Idaho funded colleges and universities require completion of a
general education core that meets the guidelines established by the
Idaho State Board of Education.
a credit hour?
The term "credit hour" indicates a unit of credit earned in a
course and is usually based on the number of clock hours a class
meets during the week. For example, a one credit hour course
meets for approximately 50-60 minutes a week; a three credit hour
course normally meets twice a week for approximately 1 hour and
15-30 minutes. Credit hours are also referred to as "semester
hours," "credit," or "hours."
a PIF form?
A PIF is a Program Information Form which is filled
out by the student to declare a major. The PIF is also used to
change majors, minors and to be assigned an advisor or change an
advisor. These forms can be found on-line at the Registrar's
website under forms. Each division will also have PIFs.
a prerequisite?
A lower level course whose successful completion is required
prior to enrolling in a more advanced course.
a syllabus?
A syllabus is a course outline of materials to be covered
during a course, including course requirements, outcomes,
assignments and deadlines.
