Your college education will differ from other learning experiences you have had in that you will have greater responsibility for your own experience.  A complete range of professional staff and faculty stand ready to assist you in every way possible, but ultimately you are responsible for making decisions, meeting standards and maximizing learning.  Take the initiative in seeking advisement and in developing a positive relationship with your advisor.

Specifically you should:

• learn the name and office location of your advisor;
• select your own course schedule to discuss with your advisor;
• know your academic standing;
• know fee amounts and payment deadlines
• know and observe all academic calendar deadlines as found in the class and time schedule
• maintain contact with your advisor;
• be on time for scheduled appointments; cancelling appointments that you cannot keep.
