Businesses
throughout Idaho and around the Pacific Northwest are continually
seeking highly skilled people to fill the variety of jobs in the
technical professions. Industry shortages in the fields of welding,
information technology and wind power technology mean immediate job
opportunities are available to graduates of these programs. And due to
strong industry partnerships LCSC Professional/Technical faculty members
maintain, many times students are able to begin work in their chosen
field while they are still students.
An endowment to support LCSC’s Professional/Technical programs will
provide funds to purchase, maintain and upgrade sophisticated technical
equipment for classroom and lab settings. It will also provide funds to
help students create their own professional portfolio of tools needed
not only to enroll in Technical Degree and Certificate programs, but
also to take with them into the career field of their choice. Tool
portfolios typically cost each student $12,000 and if graduates are
serious about their profession it is expected they have a basic set of
tools before they can be hired.
According to Gary Anderson, Western States Equipment,
“…We have found LCSC graduates to be quality people with high standards,
family oriented, good work ethic, and loyalty to our business and
community. The LCSC graduates are a cut above other school graduates we
have hired.” |
