Alumni Chapters > LCSC Native Alumni Chapter
MISSION:
The mission of the Native American Alumni of Lewis-Clark
State
College is to develop, maintain and celebrate our tribal
cultures and to
enrich the experience of the Lewis-Clark State College
Campus and its
students.
The purpose of the LCSC Native Alumni Chapter is to provide
a means
through which alumni and students can interact with each
other
as well as how alumni can support positive campus outcomes
for
students. Our intent is to ensure the continued excellence
of Native
students while strengthening and promoting our unique
cultures,
traditions and languages.
The Native American Alumni Chapter was approved by the
Alumni Board of Directors in the summer of 2009, and
is authorized under the direction and programs of the Alumni
Association. The Native American Alumni Chapter is supported
by the Office of Alumni Relations.
WHAT WE DO:
Himeeq’is qeciyew’yew’ to all of the Native American Alumni
and friends that have participated in the past two
meetings to assist in the development of the newly formed
alumni chapter. A special qeciyew’yew’ to Renee Olsen,
Director of Alumni and Community Relations, the Alumni Board
of Directors, and Robert Sobotta Jr., Director of
Native American/Minority Student Services, for the support
and guidance in getting formal recognition of the
Native Alumni Chapter. It is through the joint efforts of
all involved that we will create greater opportunities for
scholarship, student/professional networking, service days
to give back, as well as opportunities to gather and
become more informed and gain greater understanding of the
successes and challenges that Native students face
in the 21st
century.
SAVE THE DATE:

ways in which chapter may assist with fundraising to
support AIEF scholarship dollars, donating or supporting
the Welcome BBQ for students on Friday, August 20 at the
Pi’amkinwaas, update on tracking LC alums, formalizing
leadership and any other items you may want to forward.
Friday,
August 20 – Native American Welcome Back BBQ – Noon to
2:00 p.m.
Pi’amkinwaas American Indian Center – 1112 7th
Street, Lewiston
We are currently seeking donations of
door prizes, food, time or funds to help support this
event. The barbeque was a great success last year in
bringing students together for a meal and some
networking before the start of the semester on the
following Monday. We had about thirty students attend
along with staff, faculty and alums, and hope to have
another good turnout this year. Items that we will need
include: hot dogs, sausages, buns, chips, cookies,
salads, fruits, veggies and juice or water. Condiments,
plates, napkins, and utensils will be provided. This
will be a great opportunity to promote to current
students we do have a strong alumni group who is
supporting them as the students begin the year on
campus. If you would like to donate any items please
contact Bob Sobotta at 208.792.2812 or
bsobotta@lcsc.edu.
