Next meeting: Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 4 p.m. in the Activity Center Conference Room
The mission of the Native American Alumni of Lewis-Clark State College is to develop, maintain and celebrate our tribal cultures and to enrich the experience of the Lewis-Clark State College Campus and its students.
The purpose of the LCSC Native Alumni Chapter is to provide a means through which alumni and students can interact with each other as well as how alumni can support positive campus outcomes for students. Our intent is to ensure the continued excellence of Native students while strengthening and promoting our unique cultures, traditions and languages.
The Native American Alumni Chapter was approved by the Alumni Board of Directors in the summer of 2009, and is authorized under the direction and programs of the Alumni Association. The Native American Alumni Chapter is supported by the Office of Alumni Relations.
Himeeq’is qeciyew’yew’ to all of the Native American Alumni and friends that have participated in the past two meetings to assist in the development of th
e newly formed alumni chapter. A special qeciyew’yew’ to Renee Olsen, Director of Alumni and Community Relations, the Alumni Board of Directors, and Robert Sobotta Jr., Director of Native American/Minority Student Services, for the support and guidance in getting formal recognition of the Native Alumni Chapter. It is through the joint efforts of all involved that we will create greater opportunities for scholarship, student/professional networking, service days to give back, as well as opportunities to gather and become more informed and gain greater understanding of the successes and challenges that Native students face in the 21st century.
The Native American Alumni Association is like no other… we are the organization committed to Native American student excellence by creating opportunities and connecting alumni and students together to promote educational success through our unique culture and languages.
UNITED THROUGH EDUCATION, LCSC’s Native American Alumni Chapter is for students, alumni, advocates, parents, elders, practitioners, educators and organizations.
Or, you can simply be an annual member to support our work in scholarship development, culturally appropriate commencement honoring, social gatherings to connect students and alumni, and service events to give back to community.
