Nona Mae
Compton Johnson ’39 writes "My first teaching
position was in Lenore, Idaho, in a country school for
all eight grades. I continued my educational career and
in 1962 graduated from Wyoming College of
Education
with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I am 91
years of age and look back fondly to the years spent at
Lewiston State Normal School. I met my husband there,
Walter
Johnson, who also continued his education. In 1962, he
was awarded a Doctorate Degree from Wyoming College of
Education. He went on to be the first District President
of Spokane Community College. He started the college,
which has been beneficial to countless students, and
also to Spokane and surrounding communities. I guess it
could be said that Lewiston State Normal School was our
first step in a rewarding career."
40’s
Roberta P. Wagers Wittman ’48 – After graduating
from Northern Idaho College of Education, she taught one
year at New Webster School in Lewiston. She was married
in 1949. They have one son, one daughter, three
grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In 1971, she
received a scholarship to attend NNC and received her
Bachelor of Arts degree. Roberta worked as a clerk and
business manager for the Scism Elementary School, which
is now closed. She is now retired, but serves as the
historian for the Nampa Methodist Church and writes for
the Idaho Press Tribune. They have also started college
funds for their great grandchildren.
50’s
Dick Hilding ’50 was recently recognized by the
West Valley Association of California School
Administrators as Moreland School District’s Volunteer
of the Year at their annual celebration in April. As a
retired teacher and principal, Dick continues to be
heavily involved in the various affairs of the District.
He serves on committees such as the Strategic
Plan
Committee, the Communications Committee, the Community
Board Advisory Committee, and the Bond Committee.

70’s
Richard (Rikk) Polillo ’75 – "Since graduating
from LCSC’s nursing
program in
1975, I took a position at Tri- State Hospital for a
couple years. I then took a position at Sacred Heart
Medical Center in 1977 in the General Intensive Care
Unit and stayed in that department for 14 years, the
last seven of which, I was the Assistant Nurse manager.
During that period I completed a BSN program at Gonzaga
University. I am proud to say that I was in their first
graduating class in 1982. I obtained my certification as
an emergency nurse (CEN) and stayed in that department
through its approval as level 2 trauma center. I later
moved to the Cardiac and Interventional Radiology cath
labs. I now work as a travel nurse and have worked in
Fairbanks, AK and Gig Harbor, WA."
Melody
Farance ’76 recently became a partner with the law
firm of Stamper Rubens, P.S., in Spokane. She graduated
from L-C with an Associate of Applied Science in Legal
Secretary degree. She graduated from WSU in 1997 with a
B.A. in Humanities, and received a J.D. from
Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago in 2000.
After practicing in Chicago for three years, she moved
to Spokane and has been with Stamper Rubens since 2003.
Marilyn Meyer Fisher ’77 and ’85 and her husband,
John, live in Coeur d’Alene. She shares “Semi-retired
from 45 years in nursing, 30 year military career, and
teaching part-time as CNA instructor for the North Idaho
College Workforce center site. We are snowbirds in
Desert Hot Springs each October to April."
Rodney Gehring ‘79 and his wife, Vicki, live in
Post Falls with their two puppies, Fenn and GG. Rodney
is a Deputy Sheriff for Kootenai County.
Deanna Odelin Mitchell ’73 lives in Post Falls,
Idaho. She received her Master of Science in Nursing
with emphasis on Leadership and Management in 2009.
Ron Salter ’71 is now living in Fort Worth,
Texas.
Greg Eck ’74 lives in Coeur d’Alene. He is the
Director of Technology at Lakeland Joint School
District.
Vickie Davison-Best ’72 is an Office Specialist
II with the State of Idaho
Department of Lands.
80’s
Mirion (Mona) McRoberts Plemmons ’88 works as a
Supply Stream Specialist in Purchasing for Clearwater
Paper Company in Lewiston.
Dwayne Stuckey ‘89 is living in Prior Lake,
Minnesota. Dwayne and his wife, Renea, both work for
UnitedHealth Group and have recently (12/28/2010) closed
on a new house located on Lake Prior in Prior Lake, MN.
He writes, “After graduating from LCSC I moved to
Minnesota and went to work as a Police Officer for St
Louis Park Police Department. After 12 years as a Police
Officer Dwayne decided to change career fields and went
to work in the IT Industry in Asset Management. Dwayne
first worked for Oracle in downtown Minneapolis for 1
1/2 years and then moved to UnitedHealth Group in Sept
2009. This job is not as stressful or as dangerous as
being a Police Officer... and the pay is much better
too, but I do miss being a Police Officer."
Sid Armstrong ’88 lives in Kellogg, Idaho. He is
the Director of Business for the Post Falls School
District.
Mike Gonsalves ’82 - “I played professional
basketball in France for 13 seasons and was a head coach
for 12 years. I’m currently an assistant coach at the
top level (Pro A) in Vichy, France. I’ve been married
for 26 years and we have a 22 year old son, Sean.” Mike
and his wife currently reside in Hayward, California.
Virginia Snyder Balser ’83 is the President/CEO
for Neutral Ground in Hayden, Idaho. She and her husband
also reside in Hayden.
Doug Eastwood ’84, ’86 is the Parks Director for
the City of Coeur d’Alene.

90’s
Renae Schmidt ’91 is the 2011 recipient of the
Martha S. Baskin Outstanding Elementary Teacher Award.
Renae teaches 4th grade at
Camelot Elementary School in Lewiston. She was nominated
for the award by Jill Ralston, who teaches first grade
at Camelot, and by Megan Ralston, a former student. In
her letter of nomination, Megan said that Renae
“both helped and pushed me to be a better student. She
is one of the main reasons that I now love reading. She
is one of the best teachers I have ever had.” Jill
stated that “Renae is always taking note of student
progress and uses what she has observed to guide her
teaching so every student learns and succeeds."
Laura Powers ‘99, has had two poems accepted at
e-zine “Fogged Clarity” and her chapbook, “Speak,” will
be published by Finishing Line Press.
Shannon Foote ’95 is working as the office
manager at the Priest River Times in Priest River,
Idaho.
Judi Wutzke ‘ 90 was recognized with the Business
Associate of the Year by the Hells Canyon American
Business Women’s Association in April.

Paul Beckwith ’90 is living in Liberty Lake,
Washington, with his spouse, Jamie. He is a pilot with
FedEx.
Johnothan Rears ‘90 is working as a freelance
consultant and is living with
his wife, Mary, in Nampa, Idaho.
Clifton Jones ’92 is living in Pearland, Texas,
with his wife, Tabitha. He works for the Shell Oil
Company as a process operator. They have two children,
Alexia Hope and Clifton III.
Mary “Maggi” McElfresh ’99 lives in Coeur
d’Alene. She is working as an LCSW/Medical Socialer Work
for Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene.
Dorothy Higbee ’90 and her husband, Myron ’91,
live in Post Falls. Myron writes, “Waiting for summer to
pick huckleberries. I’m still rock hunting when I can.
All of our kids are grown – one is a medical doctor and
one is in the military. We have two grandkids, ages 10
and 14.” Dorothy is retired from the Coeur d’Alene
Police Department. Her new book “The
Dog Paw Chronicles” will be released the end of this
year. She is currently
working on two more books.
Gwen Ryan Johnson ’96 and her husband Christopher
live in Kellogg, Idaho. Gwen works as a technology
assistant for Joint School District No. 391 in Kellogg.
David Bingham ’95 is living in Gig Harbor,
Washington, with his
family. David works as a community corrections officer
for the Department of Corrections. He writes “Coaching
baseball in the Gig Harbor area, and watching my
children grow up and my
wife becoming more beautiful every day. We have five
kids, ages 20, 17, 15, 13 and 3."
Joe Beckett ’92, his wife, Penne, and son, Joey,
live in Coeur d’Alene. Joe
works as a mental health professional for Spokane Mental
Health - Crisis Relief.
Solara Linehan ’99 has been hired to serve as
Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson’s Legislative Assistant.
She will oversee policy issues related to
finance and banking, foreign affairs, agriculture,
veterans’ affairs, judiciary,
telecommunications, and government reform. After
receiving her BS from L-C she continued her education at
Georgetown University where she obtained her graduate
certificate in International Business Management. Before
joining the Simpson office, Solara worked for then-Idaho
Congressman C.L. “Butch” Otter, and
most recently served as an associate at Deloitte

teacher for Spokane School District #81.

Julie Mattson ‘04 is living and working in Coeur
d’Alene. She works for Esterline Interface in sales and
marketing.
Samara Kluever ’08 is living in Ococnomowoc,
Wisconsin. She is a project manager for Create-A-Pack
Foods.
Katrina Holt Williams ’08 writes “I have been
working at the Idaho Department of Corrections for over
a year now and love it. I work with two other L-C
graduates, Janiece Skranak ’07 (now Murphy), and Tara
Lowrey ’10. We all interned at the IDOC and all were
hired as Presentence Investigators. My husband, Lee, has
started college at NIC and hopes to go on to LCSC."
Tom Bingeman ‘03, is
a vocal coach at the Academy of the Arts in Denver,
Colorado. He coached a 2010 American Idol semi-finalist.
Mary Duram ’03 lives in Coeur d’Alene, where she
is the owner of
Progressive Health. She has developed an information
packet that is being marketed to health care agencies
and businesses as well as individual sales. She also
provides social work services for Northwest Specialty
Hospital.
Chris Hartley ’03 is living in Coeur d’Alene with
his wife, Krista. He works
for Veterans Affairs in Spokane.
Clare Langford ’02 is the owner of Perfect Pools.
He and his wife, Anna, welcomed their frst son, Myles,
into the world on August 22, 2010. They live in El
Sobrante, California.

Sarah Zemke Bruce ’03 is living in Weiser, Idaho,
with her husband, Jayson. Sarah is teaching mathematics
and coaching at Weiser High School.
Andrea Larsen ’09 writes “I am writing from
Afghanistan! I wanted to say hello and touch bases. I
joined the Air Force wanting to see the world and it
brought me to Afghanistan for the next six months. I am
working in the Step Down unit, working with our Soldiers
and Marines, local Afghanis and even terrorists. It is
very challenging but I love what I’m doing."
Kimberley (Eberhard) Tuschhoff ’00 writes “Andy
and I got married a little over a year ago. I also
started working
full-time at LCSC about a year and a half ago in the
Adult Learning Center as an instructor. We just bought
our first home together here in Lewiston and are having
lots of fun making it our own."
Cassaundra Kugler Robinson writes “Hello! I am a
2006 graduate of LCSC and my husband, Daniel, is a 2009
grad and we wanted to give an update. Last year we moved
to Auburn, Washington, and bought our first home. We
also welcomed our first child, Sydney Rose Robinson,
into the world on November 21, 2010."

Allison Rohde Swoboda ’08 and her husband, Andrew
Swoboda’04, are now living in Moscow, Idaho. Allison is
working in Career and Advising at Lewis-Clark State. On
April 24, 2009, they welcomed their baby boy, Henry
Hammond, into the world.
Ricky Bostick ’02 writes “Just moved to Chicago,
Illinois. I work on the North Slope of Alaska in the oil
industry.” Ricky and his wife, Gina, welcomed
Eleni into the world on February 28, 2011.
Patty Dobyns ’09 is living in Lewiston and is a
sergeant in Security at Lewis-Clark State. She is
looking into attending graduate school in the near
future.
Gay Branch Lewis ’06 is living in Everett,
Washington. She is a mental
health counselor for Evergreen Manor in Everett. She
writes, “I finished
my masters in 2009 and am now a Licensed Mental Health
Counselor in the State of Washington. I am currently
working on moving back to the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley
and looking to start my own private practice in mental
health counseling and a wellness center.”
Shawna Hobson Reilly ’03 is living with her
family in Lewiston. Shawna and her husband, Isaac,
welcomed Archer Otis Reilly into their family in April.
Shawna also recently began working with Cherry Creek
Mortgage in Clarkston, Washington.
Leslie Rogers ’01 lives in Santa, Idaho. She
works as an RN for the Kootenai Medical Center. She
graduated in April 2011 with her MSN as a Family Nurse
Practitioner.
Vanessa Gil ’08 works in the child/ youth program
at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Mountain Home, Idaho.
Derick Driggs ’08 lives in Sandpoint, Idaho, with
his wife, Sandie, and their children Demi, Dawson and
Daylee. He was recently promoted to Vice President and
Principal Business Relationship Manager for Wells Fargo
Bank in Sandpoint.
Mandy Moncrief ’08 was recently accepted to the
master of anesthesia program in the School of Health
Sciences at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in
Rochester, Minnesota.

Dori Brasher ’10 - “Hello from Texas! I have been
in Texas for one month and this is my first week of
orientation for my new job at IntraCare Medical Hospital
in Houston! Believe it or not
I am one of the lucky ones and went directly into my
dream field...I got a job as a psychiatric RN! And, yes
I was so excited, tears were visible. I am eager to
learn. May my strength show and the knowledge you all
have instilled in me shine through! Thanks for all you
have done for me to help me reach my dreams!”
Elizabeth Marshall ’10 - “I am now employed as an
RN at Mid-Michigan Medical Center here in Midland, MI. I
am working in the cardiac/oncology unit part-time day
shift and hope to move to full time very soon.”
Chrystal Graham ‘11 was accepted into the M.A.
English program at the University of Idaho and awarded a
competitive teaching assistantship.
Katie Hardy ‘10, is pursuing a Master’s degree in
Communication Arts at Washington State University. She
will study abroad in Thailand in summer 2011.
Troy Wabs ’10 - “I am pleased to tell you that
the Men’s Health Screening Event (initiated during my
Senior Capstone course at LCSC) took place in October
2010. There was a great turnout with 80 participants. I
worked
with the Kootenai Health Cancer Center to finalize the
event. Three men were diagnosed with prostate cancer due
to the screening. It is my goal to continue this service
in the years to come. I am still making plans to move
forward with my career, likely going to a physician’s
assistant program."
Katherine Jones Eldenburg ’10 lives in Klamath
Falls, Oregon, with her husband, Jensen. She currently
works as an RN at Klamath Falls Hospital.
Their son, Jacob, was born on March 1, 2010.
Andrea Madsen ’10 is now a Tax Auditor I at the
Idaho State Tax Commission. She is living in the Boise
area.
Carrie Forgacs ’10 is now living in Somerset,
Ohio. She is a lead teacher with the Child Development
Council
in Columbus, Ohio. She writes “I have made an adventure
back to the Midwest where I grew up. It is
wonderful to be closer to my family, but I miss my LCSC
very much!”
Desirae Downing ’11 is living in Lewiston. She
works for the US Forest Service as a fisheries
technician.
