Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

AGING AND THE ELDERLY - You can serve anytime of day!

 

CLARKSTON CARE CENTER - LEAD THE REMINISCE ACTIVITY

Help the elderly with memory impairment, Tue - Sun, 5:30 pm -  6 pm.  No prep needed, they have everything you need to spark a memory through music, reading, and photos.

Volunteers spend a little one on one time with the elderly, go for a visit, read a story, help with letter writing, or take them out in the sunshine for a leisurely stroll.

 

GUARDIAN ANGEL HOMES - Be  a  "WALKING BUDDY."  Read to some of the blind residents.

 

ORCHARDS REHABILITATION & CARE CENTER - Volunteers to lead a craft, or group activity, read a book or help elderly write letters.

 

LIFECARE OF LEWISTON - Volunteers share your performing talents with

the elderly residents or just have a fun time helping with parties, playing games, or cards.

 

THE VETERANS HOME - AN OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE SOMEONE WHO HAS SERVED OUR COUNTRY!!

1. Volunteers 'Adopt - A - Vet - For - Spring,  organizations, or individuals can remember them with cards, or gifts on holidays and birthdays

2.     Pie Social/Cookies - the second Monday of each month 7-8 pies are needed.  Buy them at the store or bring a mouthwatering homemade pie to brighten up a vet's day. Bring your homemade cookies for special events.

3.  Help with outings - have fun go fishing, take a picnic to the park, go to the fair, or help when going to meals.

4.  VISIT A VET!!  You can read them stories, write letters, play Bingo or Pinochle, or go for wheelchair walks in the sunshine.

 

 

    ANIMALS TO TAKE CARE OF                                 

 

 

LEWIS CLARK ANIMAL SHELTER - TRAINING PROVIDED!!  Love and pet cats.  Clean cat cages and other duties in cat area.  Walk dogs. Teach dog obedience.  Groom a pet onsite.

 

TRIPLE H RIDING PROGRAM - IMMEDIATELY!!  Several volunteers to be side walkers and  horse leaders, every Friday from 11:45 am - 2 pm.

 

BUSINESS RETAIL - Would you like to get some retail experience?

 

COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP FOOD BANK - Volunteers to work front counter  from 9-1 pm or 1-4 pm once a week. 

 

THE HABITAT STORE - General sales clerk to do pricing, display, customer service and cleaning.  Shipping and receiving clerk to do pickups, load and unload merchandise.  Also, outgoing person to be their Volunteer Coordinator - about 5 hours per week.  The store is open from 9 am - 5:30 pm.  Very flexible in scheduling hours.

 

JACK O' CONNOR CENTER at Hell's Gate State Park - This is a museum housing the books and  hunting specimens collected by writer, Jack O' Connor and his wife Eleanor.

The Center needs a staff of 20 - 25 volunteers to sell specialty items and to explain the Center's mission.  Hours available upon request.

 

BUSINESS CLERICAL - Brush up on  your office skills!!

 

 

DISABILITY ACTION CENTER - IMMEDIATELY!!  Volunteers to help in the office.  Duties include; answering phone, greeting customers, computer skills, know Excel and Word, and general office duties.

 

LEWISTON CIVIC THEATRE - Edit the bi-monthly newsletter.

 

THE LEWIS CLARK ANIMAL SHELTER - Volunteers put your computer skills to work!!  Clerical work such as typing, bulk mailing, data entry and answering phones.  Training provided.

 

 THE LEWIS CLARK EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (HEAD START) - IMMEDIATELY AND VERY FLEXIBLE!!  Type simple documents on Microsoft Word. 

Fit this into your schedule any day M-F, and anytime 8 am to 5 pm.

 

RED CROSS - Office Volunteers  to do typing, data entry, copying, faxing and answering

 

                        

                                     BUSINESS WEB DESIGN, GRAPHICS & PRINT

JACK O' CONNOR CENTER - WEBSITE DESIGN Use your creativity and skills in designing and updating their website.  Keep an updated, interactive "newsletter" on the web.

JACK O' CONNOR CENTER - Design and paint the education room in a theme keeping with the museum's mission.

LEWIS CLARK ANIMAL SHELTER - 'WALL OF FAME'   2-3 Volunteers with graphic design ability or artistic talent to work as a team to design and create a wall to commemorate "Kennel Sponsors."

LEWIS CLARK ANIMAL SHELTER - We will match your talent with our needs! 
Try your hand at fundraising, Pet Walk-A-Thon, organize a cat or a dog show, auctions, off site adoption days, raffles, artwork, and special events.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY - Fundraising for their spring 2008 Blitz & Build.

CARPENTRY                          

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY - BLITZ & BUILDING!!  Women volunteers will work with skilled HFH builders. 

IDAHO FISH & GAME - April thru May, Craig Mountain Building & Fence Construction.  Meeting time and locations can be arranged.  Volunteers needed to help build a new storage building at Benton Meadows Cabin site as well as remove old fence and build a new fence.

INTERLINK - TRY OUT YOUR HANDYMAN OR WOMAN SKILLS!  Build wheelchair ramps, install grab bars/hand held shower heads, build entry steps, patch cracks in concrete driveways, & other miscellaneous jobs.

DISABILITIES - YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

OPPORTUNITIES UNLIMITED - NEEDED IMMEDIATELY - Give of yourself by helping some of the developmentally disabled youth with projects.

                         EDUCATIONAL TUTORING AND MENTORING

LEWIS CLARK EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (HEAD START) IMMEDIATELY! Classroom Volunteers needed in Lewiston & Clarkston & surrounding areas Mon - Thu 3 hour shifts are the best for the children, due to demand they will accept 1 & 2 hour shifts.  The hours are approximately 8 am - 4 pm and there is a class that is 7 am to 6 pm all week.

WHITMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - HELPING CHILDREN READ!  Need 12 Volunteers  between 9 - 11:30 am and 12:30 - 3:30 pm Mon - Fri.  Two volunteers needed to help with intramurals, 11:45 am - 12:40 pm, Mon - Fri.  PLEASE HELP CHILDREN SUCCEED!

PARKWAY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - HELPING CHILDREN READ!  Classroom mentors to help children with reading.  Flexible hours, anytime Mon - Fri, between 8:30 am - 2:30 pm.

YWCA AFTER SCHOOL KIDS PROGRAM - Tutor homeless children.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF THE LEWIS CLARK VALLEY - IMMEDIATELY!  BECOME A BIG BROTHER OR BIG SISTER!!  Have fun mentoring youth with activities in the Games Center, Gym, Teen Center, or Education Center, Mon - Fri, from 3-6 pm, 1 hour per week commitment. 

Also, volunteers to make grilled cheese sandwiches -  no clean up -  one day per week.                                                                                        

EDUCATIONAL CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

JACK O' CONNOR CENTER at Hell's Gate State Park - DEVELOP EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS!  Use your creativity and skills in designing lesson plans, visual aids, and other teaching tools about wild life and hunting.

JACK O' CONNOR CENTER at Hell's Gate State Park - CREATE A HANDS ON CHILDREN'S CENTER!  Use your talents to develop a children's learning center with hands on activities related to hunting and animals.      

JACK O' CONNOR CENTER at Hell's Gate State Park - Develop hunter training programs for children.

ENVIRONMENT AND THE OUTDOORS

JACK O' CONNOR CENTER at Hell's Gate State Park - Landscaping for the wildlife and habitat, build trails, survey and help build a land navigation course.

INTERLINK - Spring yard work.

KITCHEN HELP

SALVATION ARMY - Volunteers to help in the soup kitchen.  Cooking and set up from 3 pm - 5 pm.  Serving from 5 pm - 6 pm.  Cleanup 6 pm until done.

LEWIS CLARK EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (HEAD START) - URGENT!  Volunteers  needed Mon - Fri to help in the Lewiston kitchen, hours 8 am - 3 pm.  In the Clarkston kitchen the hours are 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.  You may work in shifts of 1,2,3, or 4 hours to fit into your schedule.

THE VETERANS HOME - Volunteers to help in the Canteen.  4 hours shifts, during the hours 8:30 am - 4 pm.

            HEALTH  & FITNESS OCCUPATIONS

RED CROSS OF IDAHO - DISASTER Volunteers to provide timely response to disasters and assist victims, provide red cross services (food, clothing, shelter), participate in DAT meetings at least 4x per year, and provide referrals to other services.

GUARDIAN ANGEL HOMES - EXERCISE WITH THE ELDERLY! Training provided to teach exercise classes to residents in the care center.                                                                                             

                          SOCIAL WORK OCCUPATIONS                    

 

 YWCA - URGENT!  Crisis Line Volunteers to work from home phone or cell phone.  Training Provided!!                                                                                                    

 

                  TECHNICAL-THEATRE OCCUPATIONS

LEWISTON CIVIC THEATRE - BEHIND THE SCENES!  Volunteers to help with lighting, the sound board and stage managing.
