APPLICATIONS FOR BOOK GRANTS
Lewiston, Idaho – The First Book Lewis-Clark State
College Campus Advisory Board is pleased to announce that it
will begin accepting applications from prospective
community-based literacy programs for grants of books to
distribute to the children they serve. Applications
and guidelines are available by calling 208.792.2194, or via e-mail at
mdwilson@lcsc.edu. To qualify for a book grant, applicants
must be a tutoring, mentoring or family literacy program
that works with disadvantaged children.
FIRST BOOK – LCSC
The First Book LCSC
Campus Advisory Board is part of First Book’s national
network of community volunteers who support First Book’s
mission. Comprised of volunteers from all sectors of the
community, the First Book – LCSC Campus Advisory Board works
to promote and facilitate the distribution of new books to
literacy programs in the area served by Lewis-Clark State
College including Lapwai, Grangeville, Orofino, Kooskia,
Kamiah, Clarkston, Asotin and surrounding areas. In the
past three years alone, First Book has distributed over
20 million new books to children in need.
FIRST BOOK’S NATIONAL
LITERACY EFFORTS
First Book is a national
nonprofit organization with a single mission: to provide
low-income children with their first new books. On campuses
around the country, First Book Campus Advisory Boards unite
leaders from all sectors of the community to provide books
to children in literacy programs, shelters for battered
children, housing projects, soup kitchens, after-school
programs and other community-based efforts that reach
children living below the poverty line. For more
