ASLCSC Senate Meeting Minutes

January 23, 2001

The meeting was called to order at 4:32 p.m.

Present: Fox, Heath, Lawyer, Ochszner, Skow, Redford, McCoy, Nunez

Approval of Minutes of Janaury 16, 2001.
Motion to pass made by Senator Heath, Seconded by Senator Nunez. Minutes approved as written.

Dr. Meier - Gone to State Boards in Boise.

Mr. Magruder - Strongly recommended the career fair at WSU on February 27th. It is a tremendous opportunity for students to meet with many potential employers. The COM Board meets this Thursday, January 25th at 3:00 p.m. in SUB 225. Don't forget the ski trip this weekend.

Executive Reports:
President Wright - Gone to State Boards in Boise.

Vice President Sonnen - Reminder: Co-Curricular proposals for spring are due in Dan Regan's office on February 15th. The Craft Fair Committee will have a follow-up meeting next Wednesday at noon in the Executive Offices. They will be discussing the possibility of having vendors in the spring for the craft fair in December. She has scheduled Wednesdays, 3-5 p.m. to meet in the ASLCSC office regarding student fees. A full budget report will be presented at the first meeting in February.

Committee Reports:
Faculty Association: Vice President Sonnen reported. The main topic at the meeting was the faculty staff salary issue.

Ethics Committee: Senate Majority Leader Ochszner stated that this committee met last Thursday after the Round Table meeting to discuss the inappropriateness of leaving the meeting before it has adjourned especially when visitors are present.

New Business:
Senator Heath made a motion to amend the agenda to include Senate Resolution 01-S007 under New Business. Senator Lawyer seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Resolution #01-S007, Motion Senator Fox, Second Senator McCoy Resolution passed unanimously.

Senate Information Reports:

Retreat Ideas - Senate Majority Leader Ochszner reviewd the project and issue ideas from the retreat. Some have been completed; some are still being worked on; and some have fallen into the hands of others.

Senator McCoy stated that he had not found any AA group that would be willing to sponsor a meeting on campus. Senator Lawyer stated that she would ask the NezPerce Tribe if they would be willing to do so. A suggestion was made that we could post the meetings in the area on the ASLCSC bulletin board along with the book exchange stuff.

Audience Time:
Senator Lawyer stated that she had announced in one of her classes that there were two openings in the Senate. She asked all other senators to do the same.

Motion to adjourn, Senator Nunez, Second Senator McCoy. Meeting Adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
