ASLCSC Senate Meeting Minutes September 19, 2000 The meeting was called to order at 4:33 p.m. Present: Alrick, Arthur, Heath, Lawyer, McCoy, Nunez, Ochszner, Skow, Steinhauer Approval of Minutes of September 12, 2000: Motion Senator Skow, Second Senator Alrick Minutes approved as written. Executive Reports: President Wright encouraged the Senators to sign up for a Softball tournament taking place on Saturday, September 23. He informed the Senate that the LCSC faculty have put together a proposal regarding the Presidential Search with language they want to run in the advertisement and where they want to advertise. LCSC wants to have some input into the selection of our new president. Committee Reports: Diversity Committee: Senator Lawyer reported that only three people met on this committee. However, they came up with a project they would like to do. One is to have a world map posted in the SUB where students can put a push pin on it to indicate where they are from. Also a "Diversity Map" where students can indicate things such as Center for Arts: Senator Heath reported that she had been touch with Carlton Oaks. She indicated that he didn't really know what to do with a "Liaison" since he is the new Director. She asked for ideas for things to work on with the Center for Arts. Executive Session called by Senator Arthur with the Senate, Executive Branch, and advisors only. Justice Sheets requested to speak to the Senate before they went into Executive Session. A motion was made by Senator Nunez and Seconded by Senator Alrick. Motion passed to allow the request. Justice Sheets then reported that the Voting Survey was up and ready to go. She requested that everyone complete the survey and spread the word. She will leave the web address in your boxes. The Senate then went into Executive Session. New Business: Senate Bill #00-F005, Motion Senator Skow, Second Senator Alrick. Discussion. 5 yes, 2 no, 1 ab. Bill passed. Senate Bill #00-F006, Motion Senator Skow, Second Senator Alrick. 6 yes, 2 no, Bill passed. Senate Bill #00-F007, Motion Senator McCoy, Second Senator Lawyer. Discussion. 8 yes. Bill passed. Senate Bill #00-F008, Motion to amend Senator Nunez, Second Senator McCoy. Motion passed to amend the bill to read "The funds for this bill will be taken out of the General Operations Account." Motion to pass Senator Skow, Second Senator Nunez. Discussion. 8 yes. Bill passed. Senate Information Reports: Senator Ochszner - Club Funding and the LCSC Day at NIC will be on the agenda for Roundtable this week. Senator Alrick - The Legislative List Serve is up and running. She will give everyone instructions on how to get on it. Senator Lawyer - The first LCSC Town Hall Meeting with President Zimmerman will be next week on Thursday at Noon. She asked the Senators to give her some topics of discussion to forward to Dr. Zimmerman. Vice President Sonnen indicated that the Student Affairs Committee is the place to go for problems with policies. Mr. Magruder - He was asked to relay a request for topics for the Social at the President's home. Vice President Sonnen volunteered to collect the suggestions.
