The
meeting was called to order at

Lytle, Senate Secretary Amber Hanes-Miller
Minutes: Minutes not approved, as they have not yet
been processed.
Mr. Williams: Reported the card swipe committee meeting has
been postponed. Also that he is trying
to locate the student health contract for review.
Mr. Smith: Presented
a $100 donation to ASLCSC from Sodexho Food Services for the completion of a
survey.
Brandon Lytle: Activity announcements: Akin Zuie concert on January 19, pool tournament Wednesday,
upcoming ski/snowboard trip to
Executive Communications:

President Martinez: *Covered the
Spring Retreat that was held Saturday, January 8 *He asked to know who was nominated to
receive the MLK Diversity Award at the MLK Celebration of Diversity activities
to be held on January 18, the consensus was to present the awards to Dr.
Marilyn Levine and Dr. Richard Moore.

Vice-President Wak Wak: Discussed the budget from the previous
semester, including Craft Fair and the
Judicial Communications: Nothing to report
Committee Reports:
Book
Exchange: Mike Bybee indicated there were some mishaps with volunteers mis-pricing books so we may have to eat some of it, however,
we took in about $7000 in the first day of which approximately $700 will remain
ours. He thanked those present who had helped.
Clubs
& Orgs: Senator Caines reported on the Clubs and
Orgs Committee and the upcoming meeting on the 21st including the
plans to establish policy that should be developed within one month. He will be
disseminating information on funding opportunities for Spring.
He also received a note from Harriet Husemann in Communications wanting to know
if it would be helpful to address the Clubs and Orgs about promotion.
Santa’s
Helpers: Senator Rodgers reported on the program’s success and that they were
able to help nine families by delivering presents via elf attire.
Senator
Racich called and found out that we had no students involved or directly
affected by the December 26 Tsunami . She also reported that we now have benches in
the MT building, the cost was covered by the physical
plant. She would like to plan for a way
to thank Scott and encourages inter-relations.
Senator Racich also commented on the Spring Retreat, the small attendance
and lack of absence notification.
New Business:

Senate Bill 04-F-022- Proposed Bylaw Amendment for Coeur d’ Alene Executive Standing Committee was folded at the end of
last session, it now becomes new business. Senator Rodgers asked that we not vote
on it at this point as we’re still waiting on the ruling on the 8 credits and
how that will effect them up there. Move to table
Senate Bill Senator Bybee, Second Senator Johnson.
Senate Information Reports:
President
Martinez discussed the upcoming SBOE and JFAC meetings along with the entire
“Higher Education Week at the Legislature” to be held in
Senator
Rodgers discussed the open Technical Senator seat and that we have received one
application and they will be trying to get some flyers out around campus.
Vice
President Wak Wak mentioned
getting the word out to instructors so that they can let their students know
about the open position.
Senator
Rodgers asked that everyone get in their new class schedules to Amber.
President
Martinez reminded everyone of the legacy project and that if there are some new
ideas that there are only 5 months left until many of the legislators will be
leaving. Senator Rodgers asked who might
be interested in building a committee for the legacy project, President
Martinez thought it would be just as effective for everyone to put their heads
together and “buck up” and nominate some things and vote on it to decide what
the project will be.
They
decided to meet following this meeting to discuss the legacy project.
Senator
Caines presented President Martinez with a gift from
the rest of the group.
Brandon
Lytle mentioned that he has been approached by several students inquiring about
having a student section in the new activity center.
Mr.
Williams said that at the Warriorientation held on
Friday, January 7, there was interest expressed in the rideshare program. Vice President Wak Wak said that she had previously planned to have the
physical plant build the information board, but she had not heard back and that
if it did not work out she was willing to be crafty and put it together within
the department.
