Rohde, Committees Director Bloomsburg.

Approval of Minutes:
Motion to approve minutes of
Student Government Advisor
■ Ernie
Williams- Commend those that attended the WAA event last week. There was a good
response and the players appreciated all of the support. The game felt like a
real college game.
Student Activities Coordinator
■ Brandon Lytle- Absent.
LCSC Administration Communications
■ Ron Smith- Absent.
Executive Communications
■ President
Racich- Informed the Senate that Ron Smith went home sick. Asked that everyone
disregard the information that was passed out by Senator Johnson about the Card
Committee, it was discussed last week and Mike Bybee will be the Senator
sitting on that committee. She informed the Diversity Committee that she placed
a resolution in their mail boxes that was passed by the 8th Senate.
Student Fee Hearing will be the last week of February or the first week of
March. Dates have not been announced yet.
■ Vice-President
Ambriz- Presented the budget. Myndie informed the Senate that she rectified the
accounts at the beginning of January, all accounts are “to the penny” at this
time.
■ Director
of Committees- Would like to see the Faculty Senate, Student Affairs,
Curriculum Committee and the Directors Council go up on the white board, these
seem to be the hardest to keep track of. Would like to see a Legacy Committee
meeting come up as we are getting low on time.
Judicial Communications
■ Chief Justice Allen- Have two
candidates here today, Dustin Wittman and Anna Vaughan. As long as the bills
for their appointments are passed the Judicial Branch will be functioning and
the “clock” will begin again on the cases that are pending. Advised that he was
unable to make it to the Comm board meeting on Friday as it conflicted with his
lab time.
Committee Reports
Diversity Committee: Senator Sherpa reported that they had a short meeting
last week. The next meeting will be tomorrow at 6 pm in SUB 225. Passed out handout
regarding what the Diversity Committee had done last semester and is working on
this semester. Went over the handout. Informed the Senate that the Committee
started by gathering information on what the Diversity Committee has done in
past years. Started to invite other clubs and orgs to attend their meetings as
a result they have had the Native American Club, International Club and the
Japanese Cultural Association attend the meetings. Had Stephanie (Lathrop) from
CAMP come and talk about Cezar Chavez at a meeting. Tried to define Diversity.
Developed policies and procedures. Started making themselves aware of what kind
of events are going on around campus. Thought that would be a good starting
point. Co-sponsoring activities on the campus. Black History month, Cezar
Chavez day and MLK Day are examples of the co-sponsorship. Co-Sponsored MLK Day
with AmeriCorps and presented two awards to faculty / staff recognizing their
involvement in promoting diversity on campus. Diversity is now planning on
getting involved in Black History Month, Cezar Chavez Day and Cinco de Mayo. Thanked
everyone for their help and thanked the Executive Branch for their information.
Clubs and Orgs: Senator Smith reported. The meeting was last Friday, new time and
place. The main topic was club funding as there is only about two weeks until
the deadline. There will be a policy coming out regarding club websites.
Senator Mewes added that the web development club has offered to host and build
their websites for a small fee. Senator Smith added that the price that they
had given for hosting was $5 a month, it may be a bit spendier for building the
site.
Comm Board: Senator
Mewes reported that the Comm board met last Friday. Discussed the Radio Club
and the Pathfinder. They discussed the fact that there has been more coverage
on the technical side of the campus. Also discussed the fact that there have
been a lot of personal views expressed in the paper. Today the radio club is
holding a meeting to elect a new president. The radio will be broadcasting in
the SUB in the next couple of weeks. President Racich went on the record to
state that “as of this time there is no Pathfinder reporter in the body.”
Faculty Senate: Senator Johnson reported that they met last Thursday. There was a great
deal of discussion regarding Higher Ed week. Things that are of interest to
students is that they are trying to form an advising standards council to train
the advisors for students because there has been a lot of problems with
students not being directed properly which results in students not being able
to graduate on time. The discussion of the 3% raise that the Governor put on
his agenda was originally requested to go across the board, but that was
dismissed and they are basing the raise on merit and how far off the median
rate the position is. The 3% increase still does not keep up with the rate of
inflation of 3.7% in the state of
Student Affairs: Senator Johnson reported that they met Friday. The biggest thing on the
agenda was the discussion with Karan Morscheck and the $5 fine for propping
doors. Because of this fine, the propping stopped. The policy will be redefined
for the handbook for next year. They are trying to work on details for the
handbook to try to make all dorms dry for any age next year.
Curriculum Committee: Senator Johnson reported that they met this afternoon.
Had 15 practical nursing and the business proposals for second readings (these
are the same ones he went over two weeks ago). They will be forwarded to
Faculty Senate for their next meeting for final reading and vote. Three came
through today that were routine, Natural Sciences, change catalog descriptions
for 499 courses to require a written report. Bio-Chem 481 add a lab and one
credit. Drop Biology 362 from a six hour to a three hour lab a week and reduce
the course credit by one credit.
Old Business
Senator Rawson motioned to
recall Bill 06-F042 back to the table. President Racich asked to withdraw the
bill.
New Business
■ Senate Bill 06-S044: Approve appointment of
Dustin Wittman to ASLCSC Associate Justice: Motion to vote Senator Rawson,
second Senator Hanson. Roll Call Vote: 8 Yes, 0 No, 1 Abstention Senator
Johnson. Bill passed.
■ Senate Bill 06-S045: Approve appointment of Anna Vaughan to
ASLCSC Associate Justice: Motion to vote Senator Rawson, second Senator

there. Myndie called a Roll Call vote to find out who would be going. Those who
decided to go were: Bybee, Hanson, Mewes, Ojeda, Riggers, Sherpa, Smith (not sure),
Bloomsburg, Ambriz, Rohde, Allen, Wittman, Vaughan and Myndie. Meeting will be
held up there, media relations needs to advertise that the meeting will be held
up in CDA. Senator Rawson informed the Senate that the ByLaws state that public
