Call to order
The meeting was called to
order at 4:30 p.m.
Roll Call
Present: Senators Bautista, Bybee,
Mewes, O’Harra, Ojeda, Rawson, Riggers, Sherpa, Smith. Vice President Ambriz,
Committees Director Bloomsburg, Media Relations Director Rohde, Associate
Justice Wittman, Associate Justice Vaughan, Associate Justice Astle.
Excused
Absent: Senator Hanson, President Racich.

Student Government Advisor
■ Ernie
Williams- For your information the SUB board will be meeting Friday at 9am to
go over the applications for club space in the SUB.
Student Activities Coordinator

■ Ron Smith- absent.
Executive Communications
■ President Racich- absent.
■ Vice-President
Ambriz- Attended the Hispanic Youth Symposium last week. Reported
on that. Presented the budget to the Senate.
■ Media Relations- Nothing.
■ Director
of Committees- Reminder to get the committee notebooks done!
Judicial Communications
■ Associate Justice Astle- Reported that
the election is official. The numbers that were read off at the last meeting
are the official numbers. Reminder to get “Letters of Intent”
and “Acknowledgement” in by Friday at 4:30. Informed
the Senate that there are three seats open for Academic positions. Informed the Senate that they have sent letters to the write in
candidates: Kent Johnson, Sheldon Allen and
Committee Reports
Institutional Development: Committees Director Bloomsburg reported that they met
last Wednesday. ASLCSC was funded $4500 for the DC Summit next year. Total
amount awarded was $45,000. For more information contact Committees Director
Bloomsburg, Senator Smith, President Racich. Passed the list
around the room.
Graduation Committee: VP Ambriz reported there is a mandatory meeting on
Thursday after Roundtable.
Curriculum Committee: Senator O’Harra reported that it will not be mandatory
for all online classes to move to WebCT. That has not
been in the plan. There are people on the committee who are adamantly against
it. It looks like the Committee will be approving a new class. A Pre-Calculus
class numbered 147 (for 5 credits) which is 143 and 144 combined. They still
will still be offering the 143 and 144 courses. They are trying to fix the
problem of students taking these classes and having two different professors. The
other changes had to do with Health Sciences.
Diversity Committee: Senator Sherpa advised that they will be wrapping up
tomorrow.

Williams reported that Dr. Smith is out of town on school business. Reminder that the Cinco de Mayo celebration will be in the SUB Solarium
starting at 11:30 am.
■ Kent
Johnson asked what the final decision was with the election. Results were
repeated for Johnson. Johnson asked how they came up with the decision in
validation of the Presidential candidates. AJ Wittman advised that there was a
Judicial ruling in this regard. Gave the ruling to Johnson
for him to read.
■ Pam
Laird asked what happened to the complaints that were filed. She was advised
that the complaints went to the Election Board and then went to the Judicial
Branch. The Judicial Branch found that “due-process” was not followed and the
case was reopened.
■ Kent
Johnson asked if every aspect of the election was validated. Was
advised that they were by AJ Astle. Questioned the
removal of people from the ballot even though they were not an official
election board. Stated that the “whole system has been tainted.” Senator
O’Harra stated that they were never an unofficial Election Board. “No
complaints were against the Election Board by the deadline and it is completely
legitimate. The election board was not challenged about their abilities.”

Bautista advised that Dine with Dene is scheduled for tomorrow at noon in the
Solarium.
■ VP
Ambriz reported that Glen Galindo is no longer with the CAMP program. Advised that CAMP may be experiencing some turbulence in the
future. Senator Ojeda added that she and others are
writing letters to Dene Thomas. Senator Bautista advised the Senate that no one
is really sure why Glen was let go. Brandon Lytle added that Professional Staff
contracts can not be renewed at any time.
■ Kent
Johnson asked how due process was not followed. AJ Wittman responded that the
Election Board did not allow them to state their case before the ruling. The
Judicial Branch reopened the case and the election board changed their ruling.
