Committee Reports

Christmas Craft Fair: VP Ambriz reported that the Fair is full and there is a waiting list for vendor space. The Committee will be meeting on Thursday; the time is to be announced. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to volunteer time for the Fair.

Diversity Committee: Senator Sherpa reported that the committee is working on plans for Human Rights Day with AmeriCorps. Meeting tomorrow in SUB 225.

Faculty Senate: Senator Hanson reported that there was a report from Tony Fernandez regarding a couple of issues that affect the Student body. Going to be cooperating with BSU in trying to offer a Masters Degree in Social Work and Education. Athletic Advisory Board has also met regarding student athletes; there has not been a student representative at this meeting as there are privacy issues regarding this advisory board. Student representation will be involved in the future when it is appropriate. Administrative Procedures met regarding the involuntary student withdrawal process and are in the process of making improvements to the draft. Higher Ed Week will be January 23rd in Boise. Curriculum Committee met and there has been a change in curriculum in the Education Division, NS351 has been changed ID351, the rationale being that NS351 has always been taught by Health and Kinesiology faculty rather than Natural Science faculty. Student Affairs met and discussed Resolution 05-F002 regarding Mid-Term Grades. The ideas that they came up with are adding mid-term grade requirements to everything except directed studies, internships and kinesiology 160 (exercise) classes. The consensus was that the mid-term grades should be pass/fail. The explanation that was given for the pass/fail is that there are concerns about weighting issues with the classes. Some classes are weighted to where the majority of grading will be after mid-term and instructors don’t want to give the students a false idea of what their grades are.

Legacy Committee: Senator Rawson reported that there are two new ideas that have been talked about in the meetings. LCSC Warrior sign on the SUB, and Student Programming Board equipment. Policies and procedures were voted on and passed in the meeting.

Finance Committee: VP Ambriz advised there will be a finance meeting after Roundtable on Thursday.

Santa’s Helpers: Senator Mewes reported that the committee met this morning and discussed the planning for the distribution of presents to Santa’s Helpers recipients.
