Call to order

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m.

 

Roll Call

Present: Senators Arnzen, Astle, Diaz, Estes, Filler, Frei, McKee, Ojeda. President Bloomsburg, Vice President Smith, Media Relations Director Sherpa, Committees Director Gray, Chief Justice Vaughan, Associate Justice Wittman, Associate Justice Zipse, Associate Justice Ramirez, Associate Justice Curd.

Absent: Senator Fragnella.

Audience: Ernie Williams, Brandon Lytle, Provost Fernandez, Senate Secretary Myndie VanHorn.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Minutes for April 3, 2007. Motion to approve, Senator Frei, second Senator Arnzen. Unanimous.

 

Student Government Advisor

          Ernie Williams- Nothing.

 

Student Activities Coordinator

          Brandon Lytle- Nothing.  

 

LCSC Administration Communications

          Provost Fernandez- reported that the SBOE is next week in Moscow. Will be asking the SBOE if they can apply for the receipt of the federal building in Coeur d’ Alene. Student fees will be addressed at the meeting as well.

 

Executive Communications

          President Bloomsburg- Next week is a very busy week. As many people as can be here on Monday at 3:30 to meet with Stuart Tennant need to be here. Tuesday going to CDA, leaving at 2:30 at the latest. Has the travel paperwork for those who signed up to go. Have to fill out a travel waiver as well. Thursday will have more travel papers and waivers for SBOE to be filled out. Asked for a show of hands of those who would like to go. Senators Frei, Estes and Diaz raised their hands. VP Smith and President Bloomsburg will also be going.

          Vice-President Smith- Presented the budget. Advised that he and President Bloomsburg have been talking about using surplus monies to put a projector in SUB 225 to save on paper and project the budgets etc. up onto a screen. Talked about getting the paperwork together for the Institutional Development Grant reimbursement.

          Committees Director Gray- Nothing.

          Media Relations Director Sherpa- Advertised for the elections and will now start working on Graduation advertisement.

 

Judicial Communications

          Chief Justice Vaughan- Elections tomorrow. SGC and SUB. BBQ tomorrow, vote early eat free. Election Committee will be meeting after this meeting today. Senator Astle reported that the expense reports are due today.

 

Committee Reports

Center for Arts and History: Committees Director Gray reported that there is a juried art exhibit opening on Friday. Will be there for a couple of weeks.

Clubs and Orgs: ACW 132 Friday at 12:15.

Senate Information Reports

        Media Relations Director Sherpa: reported there will be a speech competition tomorrow night at 6pm in the WCC. There will prizes, free food and good speeches.    

 

Audience Time

          Brandon Lytle reported that the COMM Board is accepting applications for the Pathfinder Business Manager, Editor and KLCZ Station Manager. Deadline April 18, 5pm. Interviews Friday the 20th.  For more information on the positions contact people in those positions or advisors.
