Call to order

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m.

 

Roll Call

Present: Senators Allen, Arnzen, Estes, Fragnella, Frei, Ojeda. President Bloomsburg, Vice President Smith, Media Relations Director Sherpa, Chief Justice Vaughan, Associate Justice Wittman, Associate Justice Zipse, Associate Justice Curd. 

Excused absent: Committees Director Gray, Senator Johnson.

Audience: Ernie Williams, Brandon Lytle, Provost Tony Fernandez, Matthew Carlson, Senate Secretary Myndie VanHorn.

 

Approval of Minutes: Approval of the minutes for January 23, 2007. Motion Senator Allen, second Senator Arnzen. Unanimous.

 

Student Government Advisor

          Ernie Williams- Co-curricular members send schedules to Judy Dingman. Dingman would like to set up a meeting for the week of February 12.

 

Student Activities Coordinator

          Brandon Lytle- Ping Pong Tourney Thursday at noon. Soccer registration ended last week, have nine teams. Basketball registration coming up on Feb 16 by 5pm. Still has tickets available for Harlem Globetrotters, $15 apiece, February 20. Clubs and Orgs Friday 12:15pm, ACW 132. COMM board meeting in SUB 225 Friday at noon to interview applicants for the editor position for the Pathfinder.

 

Executive Communications

          President Bloomsburg- Committees Director Gray absent today. Thursday the Radio Club is having a meet and greet in the SUB. ASLCSC provided the food for the event.  

          Vice-President Smith- Got ahold of CDA members. Looks like Thursday will be the day of the meeting, will work for everyone but the chair.

          Media Relations Director Sherpa- This weeks Pathfinder will feature President Bloomsburg and Vice-President Smith. Next week will start with Senators. There will be two per week. Closer to election time the paper will feature Judicial members.

 

Went back to Administration Communications.

 

LCSC Administration Communications

          Tony Fernandez- advised that the LCSC representatives represented LCSC very well at Higher Education Week. Made a very favorable impression to legislators and state board members. LCSC was very well received, seems like it may be a good year for LCSC. “Thanks to all of you for attending, you did your school proud.” 

 

Judicial Communications

          Chief Justice Vaughan- Working on election packets. Packets will be available Thursday. Don’t forget to remind your classes of the upcoming elections. Will be having a BBQ the day of elections. President Bloomsburg also reminded the Judicial Branch to put in their letter of intent if they want to come back next week.

 

Committee Reports

Finance: Vice-President Smith reported: will be meeting Thursday after Roundtable.

Graduation Committee: Vice-President Smith reported: please stick around after this meeting to figure out a time to meet.

Student Health: Senator Estes reported: It is the intention of Student Health to have all accounts up to date by the end of the semester. Will put holds on accounts if Student Health accounts are not paid. Ernie reported that they are working on putting together a community advisory committee for Student Health. It will be made up of practitioners and managers in the medical field. This committee will probably be meeting once a semester.

Senate Information Reports

          None.     

             

Audience Time

          Senator Astle that the business division is putting on tax preparation, Tuesday 6-9, Saturday 9-noon downstairs in the SUB. 

          President Bloomsburg asked if someone was going to do the bill for the Pathfinder. Senator Fragnella reported that she will be writing the bill.

          Senator Allen: reported that there is a small group of people getting together to discuss issues about administrative staff not treating students the way they should. There have been a number of Native American students that have problems with the paying of fees. If anyone knows of problems refer them to Senator Allen. Provost Fernandez stated that he would like to hear about these problems. Chet Herbst would also be interested in hearing about these problems as well.

Motion to adjourn Senator Fragnella, second Senator Allen. Unanimous. Meeting adjourned at 4:45.
