ASLCSC Senate Meeting Minutes

April 10, 2001

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m.

Present: Dodge, DeLane, Fox, Heath, Lawyer, Ochszner, Oglesby, Skow, Redford
Absent: Nunez

Approval of Minutes of March 27, 2001.
Motion to pass made by Senator Dodge, Seconded by Senator DeLane. Minutes approved as written.

Mr. Magruder: Discussed trip taken to UI and WSU during spring break to tour their radio stations. They were offered some free equipment. He mentioned the Presidential and Senatorial debates. He feels that it is good to have the 3 different debates. Clubs & Organizations Space Allocation will be completed soon and those clubs will be notified.

Senator Lawyer made a motion for an executive session. Motion was seconded by Senator Oglesby.
The Senate moved into executive session and then resumed regular session at 4:35 p.m.

Dr. Meier: Announced that Diane Johnson has accepted the position of our new registrar. Discussed that President Wright has volunteered to help with the recruiting and admissions process.

Executive Reports:
President Wright: Elaborated on his volunteering help with recruiting. When going to state board meetings he plans to go to nearby high schools to help recruit. President Wright read aloud Senator Nunez's resignation letter.

Vice President Sonnen: Gave a budget report. Should be some funds left for a "Wish List". She received a letter from Greg Fitch thanking her for addressing the State Board of Education. She discussed doing a PowerPoint presentation at the April state board meeting. RHA is still working on booking the Music Building for an event. The LCSC Presidential candidates will be on campus next week for interviews.

Committee Reports:
Curriculum Committee: Senator Lawyer stated that this months meetings will be April 16th and 20th.

New Business:
Senate Bill #01-S052, Motion Senator Lawyer, Second Senator Oglesby. Passed unanimously.

Senate Bill #01-S053, Motion Senator Dodge, Second Senator Heath. Motion to amend to Business Management Program - Senator Ochszner, Second Senator Heath. Motion Carried. Bill passed.

Senate Bill #01-S054, Motion Senator Dodge, Second Senator Heath. Discussion.
Motion to table the bill till next Tuesday, Senator Dodge, Second Senator Heath. Motion carried.

Senate Information Reports:
Senator Ochszner reported on the Business Student Organization's trip to San Diego. They didn't win but they had a good time.

Senator Lawyer - Discussed the new scholarship from the State. She talked to Keith Heselquist regarding April State Board meeting. They will give 5 min in open forum and 5 min in the finance committee.

VP Sonnen - The Breaking Bread program will be tomorrow, 7p.m. at the YWCA.

Audience Time:
Melissa Nelson - During Warrior Wednesday tomorrow there will be a water balloon toss.

Azumi Arai - Gave more information on the Breaking Bread program. It is to help with racial problems in the valley. She also announced the IPSA club potluck and movie night on April 19th.
