The meeting was called to order at 4:32 p.m.
Present: Dodge, DeLane, Fox, Heath, Lawyer, Ochszner, Oglesby, Skow, Redford, Nunez
Approval of Minutes of March 20, 2001.
Mr. Magruder: Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Spring Break. Don't forget the softball tournament between Good Times 105 and LCSC on April 21st.
Vice President Sonnen: Stated that the final four applicants for the LCSC Presidential position have been named. They are Richard Boyd, Joseph Kennedy, Dean Thomas, and Niel Zimmerman. VP Sonnen stated that she plans to put in a proposal to the Student Technology Fee Committee for at least one new computer tower for the Executive Office. Also, there is a proposal started about LCSC having differential student fees. She will follow up on this issue. In addition, at state boards last week was a proposal to have state appropriations match numbers of students, (Dollars Follow Students). Senator Skow feels that this would just make the bigger schools richer. This issue will also be followed up on. Senator Skow feels that ASLCSC needs a lobbyist in Boise during the January thru March legislative session. President Wright added that the legislature has passed the Higher Education Bill. Senator Lawyer added that she is expecting more information from one of the house representatives on the "Dollars Follow Students" issue.
Those ASB members that attended State Boards last week are planning on doing a Power Point presentation for next month's meeting regarding student fees
Senator Lawyer also spoke about the new Idaho Promise Scholarship and she thinks that ASLCSC should help promote the scholarship.
Vice President Sonnen stated that she would like committees such as Retention Task Force follow up on the plans they set forth.
Curriculum Committee: Senator
Nunez reported. They have nominated Christine Pharr as the committee chair
for next year. The nomination must now pass the Faculty Senate. They
discussed the issue of students "double dipping" with credits
when they double major, major/minor, etc. VP Sonnen
Mr. Magruder asked about the details of the class absence form, such as who is in charge of it (where to get it), effective date, etc. Vice President Sonnen will follow up with on this.
