Motion Senator Lawyer, Second Senator Heath.
Mr. Magruder - He has met with the Election Board regarding the election code. The Election Board will present the election code to the Senate soon. They are working on how a candidate navigates through the election process. They have created a voting survey that can be accessed via the ASLCSC Homepage and the Judicial Homepage. Congratulations to Senator Lawyer on the Shropshire event. She had over 50 attendees. We currently have 13 re-recognized clubs.
Vice President Sonnen - She stated that the Student Affairs Committee and the Administrative Procedures Committee (both important committees) as yet don't have student representation. Senator Heath and Senator Lawyer responded and volunteered to be on Student Affairs and Senator Redford is on the Administrative Procedures Committee.
Senator Lawyer asked for clarification regarding the Co-Curricular Fee Committee. She thought that maybe Student Government should dispense this money. It was explained that a committee would dispense the money and that the makeup of the committee is two administrators and three students.
Faculty Senate: Vice President Sonnen asked for comments regarding the issue of only being able to enroll in a class 3 times. She will then take the comments back to the Faculty Senate. Several Senators and audience members gave comments.
Senate Bill 00-F013, this bill was tabled.
Senate Majority Leader Ochszner
requested to amend the agenda to add Dr. Zimmerman.
Dr. Zimmerman reported on the Presidential Search. He stated that it is handled entirely by the Provost's office. Therefore, if he were to apply, the search could not be tainted. He stated that this is an important year for LCSC with accreditation issues and strategic planning. Question and answer session ensued.
Senate Information Reports:
Senator Alrick - handed out a revised version of the retreat ideas (projects/programs/issues). She also gave out a handout with the expenses associated with sending 6 Senators to the Northwest Leadership Conference in Portland.
Senator Lawyer - asked the Senate to support President's Wright's decision to fund the cost to broadcast the upcoming political events (Linda Pall and the Mader/McGarry debate) on cable channel 13. Discussion. The Senate approved the funding of the events as long as it was clear that ASLCSC does not endorse either of the candidates.
Senator Ochszner - asked how many people would be riding to CDA on November 7th for the LCSC Day at NIC. There were 7, therefore, a large van will be reserved.
