ASLCSC Senate Meeting Minutes
October 17, 2000
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m.
Present: Alrick, Heath, Lawyer, Ochszner, Skow,
Redford, Steinhauer, McCoy, Nunez
Approval of Minutes of October 10, 2000:
Motion Senator Heath, Second Senator Skow
Minutes approved as written.
Mr. Magruder - Highly
recommended the Career Fair at U of I. Would like to see the Senate pass
legislation to put it on the ASLCSC calendar. Also reminded the Senate of
the handout put in mailboxes last week regarding mock interviews and the
two employers that were going to be on campus interviewing for management
trainee positions. Reminder - Student Programming Board interviews will be
next Tuesday, October 24, 2000 starting at 6:00 p.m. in SUB 205. If anyone
is interested in being on SPB, please sign up for an interview time.
Executive Reports:
President Wright - Don't forget the Linda
Pall presentation tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the Library TCC room. President
Wright will be gone to the State Board of Education meetings in CDA this
Thursday and Friday. One topic of discussion at State Boards will be the
possibility of a "split fee" at U of I. Discusion ensued.
Vice President Sonnen -
Reported on the Clubs & Orgs luncheon today. A suggestion was made to
have an organized meeting once a month for all clubs. Clubs were asked to
put together something for a newsletter and email it to Laura. Dan Regan
had stated that a letter regarding Co-Curricular proposals would be out a
week ago and it is not yet out. The first deadline for proposals is
November 1.
Committee Reports:
Alumni Association - Senator Ochszner
reported that the Alumni Association was planning to share a booth space
at the Craft Fair to sell Christmas ornaments.

Lawyer, Second Senator Nunez. 9 yes votes. Bill Passed.
Senate Bill 00-F013, Motion Senator Nunez, Second Senator McCoy. 9
yes votes. Bill Passed.
New Business:
Senate Bill 00-F014, Motion Senator
Heath, Second Senator Alrick. 9 yes votes. Bill Passed.
Senate Information Reports:
Senator Nunez - requested to know who
wanted to go the Northwest Leadership Conference in Portland. Senators
Nunez, Lawyer, McCoy, Skow plan to attend. Two rooms are needed.
Audience Time:
Senator Lawyer - stated that she and
President Wright would be dining with Linda Pall and Richard Moore tonight
before Ms. Pall's presentation. Anyone interested in joining, please do
so.
Senator Alrick - The Alcohol
Awareness Casino Night sponsored by SPB, Contemporary Social Issues, and
RHA is this Friday, from 8-12 midnight.
Vice President Sonnen -
Announced a Summer Blowout Sale on short sleeved t-shirts. The sale price
is $8.00 each and will last through October 31, 2000.
