ASLCSC Senate Meeting Minutes

September 26, 2000

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m.

Present: Alrick, Heath, Lawyer, McCoy, Nunez, Ochszner, Skow, Redford
Absent: Steinhauer

Approval of Minutes of September 19, 2000: Motion Senator Heath, Second Senator McCoy.  Minutes approved as written.

Executive Reports:
President Wright reported on last week's State Board of Education Meeting. The SBOE approved having 2 students on the LCSC Presidential Search Committee. To vote in the upcoming election, voters need to be registered by October 7th. President Wright told the Senate that the intent in the ISA constitution was not to collect any fees at this time. Other Student Government leaders, highly recommended the Northwest Student Leadership Conference in Portland. President Wright notified the Senate of a Senate resignation.

Vice President Sonnen reported that she will get the Senate Shirts ordered on Wednesday. She is planning a luncheon for the Clubs & Organizations on October 19th. Mary Emery will present tips on Grant Writing. She is planning on inviting the club advisors and one member of each club.

Dr. Meier asked the Senate how they felt about himself, Dick Magruder, and Laura Wilson attending the Social at the President's home.

Mr. Magruder reported on the Contemporary Social Issues Committee. As part of Alcohol Awareness Week/ Month there will be a Movie with free pizza on October 4th, Night Golf and free pizza on Friday, October 13, and Midnight Volleyball at 10 p.m. on Friday, November 10.

Committee Reports:
Diversity Committee
- Senator Ochszner reported that the Diversity Committee is getting re-organized. They plan to get more clubs involved.

Library Advisory Board - Senator McCoy reported that they have not met yet. Paul Krause will contact members of the Board when they have an agenda put together.

Student Hearing Board - Dr. Meier requested that a list of the Student Hearing Board members be sent to him.

Craft Fair - Vice President Sonnen reported that changes have been made to the letter and will be going out next week. Mr. Magruder reported that he met with Athletics and has secured the gym through 2004.

Ways & Means - Senator Alrick reported that Bill #00-F009 is not on the agenda tonight because it's in process.

Senate Information Reports:
Senator Ochszner
- LCSC Day at NIC will be on November 7. He read aloud the letter received from Rocky Owens. The Senate meeting will be held at NIC that day. Some discussion about travel to NIC. Discussion deferred to Round Table on Thursday. The open Senate seat will be advertised in the Pathfinder on October 4th, closing date for applications will be Tuesday, 10/10, and interviews will be at Round Table on 10/12.

Senator Alrick - Those interested in attending the NWLC in Portland on November 10-12 are Vice President Sonnen, Senator Skow, Senator McCoy, Senator Nunez, and Senator Lawyer.

Audience Time:
Shawn Emrey - introduced the new Radio Club to the Senate. Their next meeting is 10/4/00.

Senator Lawyer - trying to get a political debate going on campus between Linda Pall and Butch Otter. Linda Pall has agreed, but there has been no response from Butch Otter. The next choice would be McGarry/Mader.

Motion to adjourn - Senator Skow, Senator McCoy Seconded. Meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
