Legacy Committee: Senator Smith reported. Legacy met last Thursday and discussed Policies and Procedures and will be making the appropriate changes. Also discussed the 2003-2004 Legacy Project that is still unfinished and the group decided unanimously that they would like to see the Legacy project finished with the money that has already been raised for it. The Legacy Committee is still discussing ideas for this year’s project, they thought they had some good ideas at first but it seems that there are doors closing on a lot of the ideas. Welcome anyone to submit ideas for the Legacy Project, either by telling a Committee member or by dropping a note in Senator Smith’s box. Another meeting scheduled for Thursday at 3 p.m.

Math Lab: Rohde reported that they met last week and all those involved will be going to investigate the labs by themselves and will be meeting this week.

Scholarship applications will be coming out December 1. Another issue that was discussed was looking at redoing some of the signage in Reid Centennial Hall, nothing that is going to be expensive but will update the signage in the building. Johnson suggested that the Legacy Committee may want to look into above-door signage and the possibility of putting those in the main door entrances in the main buildings on campus.

Administrative Procedures: Senator Johnson reminded the Senate to get their comments in to him regarding the “Involuntary Administrative Student Withdrawal proposal.” Next meeting will be mid-December and he is looking for Senate input on this issue. Put comments in his box.

Senate Information Reports

Senator Hanson reported that Jimmie O’Harra and himself met this afternoon with Renee Olson with Alumni Services. Discussed several different ideas of setting up a solid Alumni base. Olson requested that she meet with the students and President Racich to share some ideas.

President Racich asked if anyone had anything to report on the Northwest Student Leadership Conference in Portland.

à        Senator Johnson: “I personally did not but I was going to bring it up and remind everybody that we need to start [putting together some] quick run downs of the conferences that we attended. It would have been nice to have at least one or two, but personally I know that there was no way I had time to even get one put together. I didn’t finish any of them while over there. But we do need to have quick run downs of what we learned, how it will benefit the student government and possibly clubs and orgs and any other entities on campus.”

à        Vice President Ambriz: “It is hard to get something put together in a day that is going to be good quality.” (Unable to get more of a direct quote as I could not hear him well.)

à        Senator Smith: “I do want to report that it was a good conference and I got a lot out of it. I think it was worth the money that we spent. I know there were several of us that were basically at every session we could be at. And we were able to get some good things. I know myself, every session I wished there was two of me because there was at least two that I wanted to be at at every time. It’s a good conference and I would do it again if I got the opportunity.”

à        Senator Hanson: “Ditto Senator Smith. I went to a couple of good ones…one on lobbying, and basically how to go about doing it. Also ‘crafting your message for media’ a lot of interesting things I learned especially about broadcast media (can’t understand him here). Also some things with the United States Student Association which is a National organization of not only state student associations but also individual schools themselves. I think it is certainly something we should look into if we can’t do the Idaho Student Association at least do something for ourselves. (unintelligible) Overall I think that conference was a success, it was great not only in the conference content, it was great to spend time with my fellow student government and get to know them, it was worth it just for that.”

Senator Johnson stated that the Ethics Committee will have to meet in the immediate future in regards to the stipend allocations. Will also discuss senators attendance and recommendations about the stipend amounts. It was decided that the Ethics Committee would meet directly after the Senate meeting.

Brandon Lytle advised the Senate that he and Jayson Ulrich moved the canoe from the boathouse. Advised the Senate that the sign was still out at the boathouse in case the Senate wanted to do something with it.

Senator Johnson reported that he had heard that flex and board dollars will carry over semester to semester. Wanted to recommend that the Senate get Dale Askew to a meeting to discuss this.

Audience Time

Ernie Williams: Advised that he will re-contact the people who do chair adjustment to get them in to adjust and lubricate the chairs.

Senator Sherpa reported that there will be International Movie Nights at 6:30 p.m. all this week in MLH 100.
