Approval of Minutes:

Senator Bybee, modification to page 2 Senate Bill F005, Bybee abstained. Motion to approve as amended Hanson, seconded Bybee, minutes passed.

Vice President of Administrative Services (Administration Communications)

          Ron Smith- yield to Brandon

Brandon Lytle- check the intramurals calendar for upcoming dates. Some of the gym related activities will be postponed for a month or longer. There are a couple of upcoming events for the SPB, such as comedy show and a concert planned. The Outdoor Recreation committee met and will be placing an order soon when the out-of-season rates come available.

Question from Senator Bybee to Ron Smith- Whose budget will be absorbing the cost of the gym floor repairs, the college or the contractor? Response from Ron Smith- unsure at this point as there is some question as to who was at fault so there has to be some more fact finding and more analysis done. Either the college or the contractor will be absorbing the cost.

Question from Senator Hanson for Brandon Lytle- asking about the aquatic center passes. Brandon advised that they can be obtained at the information desk and there are no more available this week and they are first come first serve can get one pass per day. Hopefully will be able to expand the number of passes, he is working with the assistant manager to get a better deal.

Executive Communications

President Racich- Reminder to get RSVP’s in for Dene’s house. Read Charlette Kremer’s email regarding the LCSC KARE’s (Katrina Aid and Relief Effort) meeting. Issue of the Presidential photograph out in the SUB. Up to this point this picture has been paid for by the SUB as well as the frame and matting. I would like to have the ASLCSC to take over the cost of the photograph. The reason for this is that the photograph should be the property of the ASLCSC rather than owned by the SUB. The cost is $125 and would like the Senate to discuss this issue.

Vice-president Ambriz- CAMP is trying to get more room for office space. Because of their office situation they are in violation of FERPA regulations. If you have any ideas contact me.

Allison Rohde- Rick Hill brought the shirts to me already. I won’t be passing them out until the first home game. They will be in my office and I am hoping that we can show our support at the first game.

Judicial Communications

Ben Schuster- reminder, elections are coming up if you know of anyone who would want to serve on the election board send them my way.

Judy Oatman- I’m glad to be here. I will be here for as many meetings as I can be.

Committee Reports

Finance Committee- VP Ambriz reported that the finance committee met last Thursday. The committee agreed on splitting the $11,000 (Clubs and Orgs budget) in half allowing $5,500 for each semester. Will go to clubs and orgs grant funding, fundraiser matching funds, new clubs and orgs start up funds. Senator Smith brought up that he has class right after the meetings Tuesday and Thursday. Discussion ensued regarding times for the meeting. No meeting time set at this time.

Ways and Means- Senator Ramirez reported. Met on Tuesday and discussed the constitution. Having another meeting today.

Student Services Director’s Council- Senator Johnson reported. Met with Andy Hanson and all the directors of the various offices underneath him this morning. Will continue to meet with this council once a month. Committee is a compilation of the liaisons with the registrar’s office, office of admissions, TRIO, CAMP, career advising services, and financial aid. Registrar, Diane Johnson requested it be passed on that if you have Guard or reserve call up duty for helping out in New Orleans you will get a full refund. Anyone wishing to help with Salvation Army, Goodwill or Red Cross or any other relief organizations there is no policy put in place for refunds, but they are looking in to that. General student information, the “Academic Forgiveness” policy has been drastically changed and it has been recommended that students need to look into that in the catalog. The “with honors” requirements have passed initial steps and are in the Office of the Provost for implementation at a later date. Changes will take place at the beginning of next year. Issue of people applying for graduation who have not met all of their requirements. Unclear how this can be addressed by the Student Government, but may need to be passed on through advisors. Office of Admissions, Steve Bussolini, wanted it mentioned that there are options to study abroad. Pat Clyde with TRIO, have secured funding for the next four years. Glen Galindo had a budget cut of $5,000 asking for help with his budget. Jim Hill (CAMP Activities Coordinator) has been put at half time at a lower rate. Debra Lybyer, Career and Advising Services are split between offices in Reid Hall and are looking for more room. Any questions regarding any of these offices, get information to Senator Johnson a week in advance of his meeting with them so they can have detailed answers for him.

Outdoor Recreation Committee- Brandon and Jayson gave a run-down on what they would be buying for the program. Brandon Lytle- Trying to put most of the funds into water sports type recreation this year. That seems to be the best area to put the money into right now as they are the money making items for outdoor recreation. No decisions on the Boathouse as there are individuals who have not seen the Boathouse yet.

Old Business

Senator Smith- questions regarding unanimous consent for Bill 05-F001. Explanation from Senator Hanson.

New Business

          Senate Bill  05- F009-Pulled

Senate Bill  05- F010- Payment of $750 to the Pathfinder for Warrior Spotlight. Half payment now, half payment spring semester. Senator Smith- do we have the option of not purchasing next semester? Rohde responded that she believed we could decide not to do Warrior Spotlight next semester. The Pathfinder has had trouble with security, Sean was kicked out of the office during production and wanted to make the Senate and Ron Smith aware that there is an article entitled “Fascist Security Guard” coming out in the paper Wednesday.

President Racich- Requesting discussion regarding the Presidential photo. Discussion ensued; general consensus was that the SUB should continue to pay for the picture and that the SUB Board should be approached to make sure the ASLCSC always has access to the pictures.
